Birthday wishlist 2016

With my birthday just around the corner, of course I have to share a little wish list. While it may have started off somewhere practical and attainable, it quickly departed into the realm of $700 sandals and $900 luggage. I must admit, if I had the means, I would absolutely love the Steamline luggage. It's vintage inspired with modern amenities, has a polka dot lining and gold hardware; pretty much a fashion girls dream. On the more affordable end of the spectrum, I found this Diane von Furstenberg set at Marshalls, and the largest suitcase was only $100.

Birthdays also tend to spark a lot of internal reflection, and lately I haven't been feeling very well. For months after I moved I started feeling sad and crying all the time, but I assumed I was just needing time to adjust and that it would get better. Time went on and I didn't, so I blamed the winter, but now it's spring (sort of) and still the days wear on and I get through them, but nothing more. I can't get passed these empty, lonely feelings, and if I were really to have one gift for my birthday, it would be to start this new decade of mine with the ability to enjoy each day and look forward to the next.

I suppose that is a bit deeper than I usually get on the blog, but I just felt like I needed to put it out there, so thanks for reading.

  1. Those earrings are adorable! I do love cute bugs!!
Don't worry, I'm sure everything will get better. It's hard going from living with parents for 27 years to being alone/with a significant other. My sister probably went through the same thing when she moved to Pennsylvania. At least you're still close to your family :D

  2. I never heard of Streamline luggage - ooh! Globetrotter is similar and I love the vibe. I actually gave into Tumi Vapor luggage and love it (so lightweight).
Well, I'll start with a virtual hug. I'm not sure what I can say to console you, but perhaps do talk about it and i hope it gets better. How is the new apartment?

  3. Streamline luggage is a dream of mine - particularly a Louis Vuitton set in black leather. Maybe one day? After I win the lottery ;) I do love that vanity tray, it has me wishing that Target hadn't closed their doors in Canada because it's exactly what I'm looking for to store my jewelry in. And those sandals! If anyone can find a version at a more realistic price point, it's you, and I sincerely hope you do :) Happy almost birthday!

  5. My birthday is right around the corner too and I'm totally adding that suitcase to my list - it's so classic. I want to take some sort of cross-European train trip with it!

  6. I love the print on the wedges. Sometimes I wish Marshall's was online. So many people find great designer things at Marshall's and mine has nothing.

    I hope you feel better.

  7. My birthday wishlist always has a few expensive items on it to that I know I'll never get. But we can dream :) And that luggage is now on my wishlist!

  8. I think a big change like moving can bring on so many emotions. I hope that you start feeling better soon and that you have happier days, where you feel more like you, headed your way. I know you mentioned that you and your boyfriends' work schedules are pretty opposite, so I'm sure that is hard when you're home by yourself a lot. Or maybe that has nothing to do with it, I don't know! I just hope you feel better :) Love these b-day picks (THOSE SHOES!!) and yay for April birthdays!

  10. Oh my, I hope you start feeling better soon :( I've been there before. It never hurts to talk to someone-- whether it be a family member, friend, or professional. Even venting on your blog might help :)

Anyways, I hope you have a great birthday month! Those aquazzura wedges are absolutely beautiful and the perfect birthday present ;)

  15. Unlock Your Hip Flexors Review

As you go about your lower body workouts, one exercise you will want to include in your protocol plan is the "deadlift." Stiff legged deadlifts are great for working your glutes, your lower back as well as your hamstrings and, at the same time helping you to be more steady on your feet. If you do a lot of squatting and leg press work, you may be overdeveloping your quads while underdeveloping the back of your body.

  18. Ahhh, great choices. A girl can dream, right?
I think I went what you're going through. Or something similar. When I was approaching my 30's I kind of had this constant down. A sort of despair. I didn't feel like I had found the right path yet. I'd also moved far from my family (as in, I can't see them without a 4 hour plane ride far) and it was a rough adjustment. But as I've continued to move through my 30's things have gotten so much better. My career goals became more clear and I was able to score my "dream job". I feel more focused about where I want to go and I have a plan to get there. I've also become a lot more grateful. I've stopped focusing on what I don't have and feeling immensely grateful for what I DO have. I'm telling you, longing for things and thinking having it would make things better will suck the life out of you. As cheesy as it sounds, I began to focus on the things I'm grateful for and forced myself to start each day with a silent gratitude. Life changing. Seriously. Happy birthday and wishing you all the best.
