Intomint

Yesterday I had my mint green bag, today my skinnies. Clearly my mind has started to shift away from winter and into spring since I'm reaching for my pastels.

Which isn't to say that it doesn't still feel like winter, and we are in the midst of another 'arctic invasion', as the meteorologist proudly announced on the news.

This weekend I'm off to visit my siblings in Boston, fingers crossed it isn't too cold!

Spokesgirl for spring

Hard to imagine that just a few short days ago this was a totally appropriate thing to wear, and I even dared to try some nude tights. I've decided they don't look bad, but also don't provide much warmth.

I also realized as I was typing out the outfit details for this post that I am basically a walking ad for Gap, and I'm okay with that.

Wanderlust: Las Vegas

It may have something to do with this seemingly endless winter, but I am feeling some serious wanderlust lately, and Las Vegas is on my mind. A destination with highs in the mid 70°s and no chance of precipitation sounds pretty wonderful. Especially in comparison to my current forecast of freezing temperatures and snow.

I've never been to Las Vegas, but the allure of gambling at the casino for me is more about what I might wear:

The slot machines are definitely my speed, during the day in floral shorts and a crisp white shirt. I love the d'orsay flats which would be comfortable to get around in, but still have a nice metallic accent. The metallic tote will be great for toting all my winnings in, when I hit the jackpot. (And the of course holding all my purchases when I take said winnings and go shopping!)

For a night at the poker table I could wear the "Dreamtown Dress" and make the flats and bag do double duty. I think the tote would do well folded over to work as a clutch. I think I even surprised myself by not choosing something dripping in sequins for my evening attire, but something about this abstract print dress felt perfect for the Las Vegas strip. I envision free champaign, a very dapper man at my side, and hopefully enough beginners luck to get me through the evening.

Sadly jetting off to Vegas isn't a possibility right now, but maybe I could have a little gaming fun playing the Avalon II slots game online, or picking up the Fodor's Guide to Las Vegas and start planning to make my vacation dreams a reality.

Have you ever been to Vegas? What is your favorite thing to do - do you gamble at the high-stakes tables, or just shop, see the shows, and take in the sights, pretending you are actually somewhere in Europe, rather than the middle of the desert?

Camel and Cream

White denim in winter has always been a favorite of mine, and I'm debuting a new pair of white jeans. The old ones had gotten so stretched out and baggy I needed a belt just to hold them up, so an upgrade was in order.

I decided to try out the Old Navy Rockstar jeans because I'd heard good things about them from other bloggers, love the simple clean design (no embellishments on the back pockets) and they are available in "short", which is ideal for someone of my small stature. It's so nice not to have five inches of material pooling around my ankles.

Double up

Mother nature is fickle, and such a tease, but at least she decided to give us two perfect weekend days of spring weather in the 50°s and wait until today to resume our regularly scheduled winter.

This week I have a job interview, and this is an outfit I would consider wearing to it. It has all the components to a traditional suit; button down, blazer, tailored pant, but in non-traditional fabrics. I think the pieces are streamlined enough to say professional, but still creative, and speak to the kind of person that I am.

Today I also have a guest post over at Unraveled Threads, so check it out if you've got a moment!

Style swap

This week I'm participating in Ginny's Style Swap Link Up and I put together this outfit inspired by one she wore a few weeks ago. As far as print mixing goes, there are a lot of great combinations, but leopard and stripes will always be one of my top favorites.

Since I don't have a military vest like Ginny, I went with my black leather one and wore jeans instead of black pants. It turned out to be a super cute, weather appropriate look, so thanks for the inspiration Ginny!

To the brim

I was hoping to expand my ever growing hat collection with this black fedora from OASAP, but I feel like it is missing it's mark. The hat which is described as 'woolen' is a cotton-poly blend, quite stiff, a little big, and I feel comes across as more 'pilgrim' than anything thing else.

My search for a black fedora continues. Any recommendations?

Blurry flurries

This morning I awoke to more snow piling up outside my window; these photos are from last week when it was snowing, and we've had so many storms at this point I think I've simply lost count.

I know it's not completely without it's charms - the world in white, the big soft flakes falling and nestling in my hair, a perfectly good reason to buy this down filled vest (at the thrift store for $6), however, at this point I am done with winter. Please hurry up spring!
