Weekend Style

Long weekends always seem to mess with my concept of time. Is today really Monday? Of course, and it's cyber monday no less. While the discounts are often the same, sometimes they are even better; unfortunately most of the good stuff has already sold out.

I shopped a little on Small Business Saturday (no, American Express no longer offers card holders incentives, but it's still good to support our small local shops). It's always a pleasure to stroll through the town centers dressed up for the holidays. Thankfully after the below freezing temps of Thanksgiving, the mercury rose back into the fifties and I took advantage to get a few sets of outfit photos done. Not going to lie, I in no way relish outfit photos in the coming winter months, and would happily take sweltering summer to the bitter cold which awaits me.

  2. I didn't do any shopping this Black Friday or Cyber Monday (I was pretty impressed with my restraint). I also have to say that those shoes look so cozy for walking about in chilly weather.

  7. Such a classic autumn outfit! I am loving your bag too, I was admiring a Kate Spade wallet at the outlets this weekend! I haven't tried any of their bags but they look like a good investment.

I'm not great with taking photos in the cold either, at least it doesn't last long here!

Hope that you are having a great start to your week! It's been hot and dusty here, summer has arrived! :)

  8. I put together a very similar outfit for the flight I am taking today - I am travelling for work and go straight from the airport to a meeting, so I want to be comfortable but still look put together. My turtleneck is black, though, and you're making me wish that I had a camel one; I just love how the little bit of colour breaks up the look (and, admittedly, how it coordinates with the fur detailing on your mules.) I actually didn't take much advantage of Black Friday/Cyber Monday this year - I'm trying to commit to less shopping in aid of making a very large (fashion-related, of course) purchase in the new year. But I did snag one thing and I can't wait to it to arrive.

  9. Oh I love this classic, chic outfit! That turtleneck is perfection, and now I want one in that color. :) I agree with Mica about your bag, too. It's gorgeous! Interesting that you would rather take summer photos than winter!! I am the opposite, but we don't have extreme winters so that's probably why! :)

  10. The Monday after Thanksgiving for me was even more bizarre because they cancelled schools and I had to work from home because we got a lot of snow on Sunday... so I was ready to get out of the house today! I love this classic look, and the fur-lined mules are so fun!

  11. You look *so* good in that sweater! I have the same one in black and it's one of my favorite pieces.

I'm absolute crap at taking photos when it's cold outside. I can't imagine anyone wants to see the same handful of coats over and over. ;-)

  13. What a beautiful location! I can't wait for Westerly to get "dressed up" for the holidays. Christmas in New England is so beautiful, but I'm with you on the freezing temps. I look back at pictures from last year and I think - Oh! I love that shot!- and then the second thing I think is - I remember my fingers freezing off while posing for that photo! Ha!

Glad you got out for Small Business Saturday even if it was a little chilly! It's good to support those small businesses!

  14. I have a similar turtle neck sweater I have been wearing over and over as its been really cold in my trips.
I shopped second hand this "sale season". But I did not really need to buy anything.
