Best of Black Friday Sales

Already my inbox is flooded with the start of all the sales, and as much as I'm trying to shop for others, it's hard not to let my eye wander. So I've rounded up a ton of my favorites - an absurd amount of velvet - cozy weather favorites and of course a bit of the fancy stuff.

I'll be taking tomorrow off to spend time with family, eat way too much and just relax. Then of course I'm looking forward to my online Black Friday shopping and bingeing all the new Gilmore Girls episodes! So excited about that, I'll be celebrating with too much ice cream and take out (and all my Thanksgiving leftovers).

But on to the sales! If you missed my post about how you could be using Shoptagr to get a heads up when anything on your wish list goes on sale, you should check it out.

Happy Thanksgiving, and happy shopping!

Shopbop Fall Sale

It's that time of year, a three day only Shopbop sale! Use code MAINEVENT16 to get 25% off your purchase of up to $500, and 30% off purchases of $500 or more.

Grab some pieces you've been coveting, or maybe even get some holiday shopping done?

Here are a few pieces I've had my eye on!

Spring for savings

I'll be the first to admit that I mostly use Groupon for the half-off Starbucks gift cards when they are offered, but you might not know that in addition to discounted vouchers to restaurants, Groupon has a dedicated portion of their site to coupons, both for shopping in stores and online.

There are over 9,000 national retailers to be found on Groupon Coupons, including stores like Last Call and Banana Republic, basically stores I'm going to be shopping at anyway, so if I can get a coupon code for an extra discount it's completely worth taking the little extra bit of time to check. Currently there is an offer for $10 off $50 at Last Call, and considering they typically already offer pretty good discounts, the extra $10 is great. Plus the Banana Republic friends and family sale is going on, and it's not to be missed!

Naturally Groupon coupons are for so many more businesses than just apparel, and I noticed that there is a Turbo Tax offer for $20 off tax preparation, which I really, really need to take advantage of and just get my taxes done already - that way I'll have refund money to shop with, right?

This post was sponsored by Groupon Coupons, and as always, my views and opinions are my own. Thanks for supporting the businesses who support Chic on the Cheap.

Sale Alert - JACHS New York

I was recently introduced to the New York based clothing brand JACHS, who's style is inspired by classic american and they have a wealth of soft cotton and flannel plaids and denim to offer. Their philosophy is that a person should be able to look great without even trying, so they create pieces that are easy and comfortable to wear, and might I add, all look great with jeans. (I really wanted to mix things up and at least thrown in a skirt, but it's been far too cold and snowy, sorry.)

JACHS sent me a few of their pieces, and I love the quality and attention to detail found in each one. It's no secret I'm the kind of person who cares just as much about what is on the inside as the outside (I've bought a coat or two where I've been more in love with the lining than anything else).

On each of the shirts from JACHS I noticed a small, but wonderful, almost completely hidden detail. On the blue plaid the inside of the collar and along side the buttons there is a soft velvet trim, and the check shirt has a contrasting chambray. The polka dots on the chambray shirt are actually woven into the fabric, and all the shirts feature a tab and button on the sleeves so they can be rolled up and kept in place.

I adore these details, in my mind they speak to the quality and craftsmanship of the shirts, but of course the best part right now is the price. All of JACHS merchandise is currently 75% off! That means the shirts which range from $74 to $112 will be $18 to $28, so this is a sale not to be missed.

Because JACHS does not currently have a size guide for women, you should consider that their shirts do run on the small side and I would recommend sizing up, even on the shirts that are noted as being 'oversized'.

JoJo Loves You Holiday Sale!

As you may know, I am huge fan of the Boston based JoJo Loves You Bling Earrings. I have a couple pairs that I wear constantly, and they always add a fun bit of sparkle and pop of color to any outfit.

JoJo's earrings are handmade in Brookline, MA and I think it is so important to remember to support our country and buy things made here in the USA this holiday season.

If you need gifts for any of the fabulous ladies in your life, I would definitely recommend choosing a pair of Bling earrings and take advantage of the amazing sale, starting today and running through December 15th!

The sale:
Blings: Three pairs for $60
Mini Blings: Three pairs for $50
Oval Blings: Three pairs for $50
Navette Blings: Three pairs for $50
Party Blings: Three pairs for $60
Plus, you can mix and match three different styles!

While I was compensated for this post, JoJo Loves You is a company I would shop and support regardless.

Remember when I posted about the Boston based jewelry designer who I adore, JoJo Loves You?

Well I just thought you'd like to know they are having a HUGE Memorial Day Bling Sale!

The sale runs from Friday, May 24th through Monday, May 27th and is only available online, at jojolovesyou.com.

Here are the deals:

So go on and start shopping, for yourself, and for others (they make fabulous gifts)!

I received compensation for this post, however JoJo Loves You is a company I would support and advertise for regardless of compensation.

Day before Thanksgiving

You know the sales have already started.
NY& Company is having a half off everything sale. I love this. I wish more stores would slash the prices of their entire inventory semi-annually. Last spring I walked out with quite a few awesome finds, and hopefully I'll be able to control myself this time around (since I've used up my month's budget already). However, these are a few things I might be hinting at for Christmas gifts. (are you reading this family?)

Flyaway Cardigan, $25
Wool Camel Toggle Coat, $60
Sheer Ruffled Top, $18.50
Leopard Print Belt, $10
Gold Sequined Skirt, $25
Plaid Button Down Shirt, $19
Faux Fur Cowl, $18.50

You can also kick off your shopping weekend with this freebie; three MP3 credits from Amazon. You could buy some Christmas music, to get into the spirit, but I used mine to get some songs that were played in Monday's episode of Chuck...

Today I tried to channel J. Crew again, belting my velvet blazer over a ruffled top.

Past the expiration

Christmas may have been over a month ago, but today I bought an ornament. The Chinese Takeout Box at Urban Outfitters is such cute ornament who's $14 price tag turned me off. So once again I played the waiting game with UO and watched as the price dropped and the stock dwindled.

At $2.99 I was finally ready to buy, but then I saw the $6 shipping. Maybe I'm weird, but I wont pay more on shipping than on the actual item! So after spending way too long searching UO's sale pages I finally found a cute jewel buckle belt for $7, marked down from $20. I added it to my cart, and what to my wondering eyes should appear, but an out of stock note by my ornament!

Frustrated, I resigned - no Takeout Ornament this year.

Then today, while bored at work (shh!) I went to Urban Outfitters and looked at my cart - the ornament was back!

And while on the subject of adorable ornaments, I'd like to share my little Leica - my favorite ornament ever. You can even see through the view finder!

Shopping the Sales

It's mid January, the spring lines are out, the christmas sales are over, the general consensus is that anything on the sale rack is the dregs that no one wants and the stores are dying to be rid of.

Despite this, I managed to have an extraordinarily successful shopping trip at Urban Outfitters, J.Crew, and the Gap.

Urban Outfitters

A little green, perhaps?

Splotchy leafy green high waisted skirt, Originally $48, now $20 in the store, but is $30 online.

Lilac/Mauve Knit Jersey Dress, with pockets (I love a dress with pockets), and button accents. Originally $48, now $30 in store, $35 online.

Racer back cammi with drapey chains, This top was originally $38 and reduced to $10, but had a couple damaged bits, so I got it for $8. They should be a quick fix.

J.Crew - Extra 30% off clearance in the store

Velvet Blazer, Ruffle top, Skinny Cords

Toothpick Ankle Grey Cords, originally $78,  reduced to $21 ($30 online). I really, really loved these when I tried them on in the store, but after wearing them for a day I've realized how very not stretchy they are. I wonder if they will stretch out any after a few wears...?
I love how the ankle length is perfect for my height, at least I won't have to hem them - yay!

Salmon Pink Huge Flower Top, originally $89.50 reduced to $14, when will I ever have enough tops with ruffles, flowers and big dramatic embellishments?

Antler Tissue Tee, Originally $45, reduced to $10. I first noted this cute tee when it was featured on Style Obsession, and when I saw I could get it for $10, I had to have it. It's not really that seasonal - there are other animals with antlers, you know.

Gap - Extra 25% off clearance in store, tiered savings online

Skinny Gold Belt, originally $20, reduced to $7, I've had my eye on this one for a while - I love skinny belts, even if they aren't leather.

Green Pointell and Teal Opaque tights, Originally $12.50, reduced to $3, Can you ever have enough tights??

The best part of my little shopping spree is that I don't even have to feel too guilty about my purchases, as I had to make returns and I had gift cards, so really, I just turned two presents into nine.

What's black, white, and red in exactly one spot?

Think about it for a moment.

Do you know?

If you guessed a furry snow leopard print jacket at H&M for 70% off, you are right!

I didn't go crazy with the after Christmas shopping this year, as I was feeling guilty about buying more things for myself. But this jacket was only $18, and I was smitten the moment I tried it on. I also have this weird complex where when the last one of something happens to be my size I feel like there is some sort of cosmic plan at work.

I even sought out further conformation that it was a good purchase by polling people waiting in line - which was very long because H&M only had one person at the register. I got four 'yes'es from people in the queue and a big 'no' + 'eye roll' from my little sister. So I got it.

I also got this super long black bead and chain necklace from Aldo because I didn't get it for Christmas and it was only $10.50 (nearly half off!)

Did you find any great after Christmas sales?

Shopping the Target.com Clearance

The woman's clearance section is bountiful and very satisfyingly cheap; I quickly filled my cart up with several pieces, none topping the $11 mark, and all at least 75% off.

The downside is that you've got to spend $50 to get free shipping (which is otherwise somewhere from $4 to $15 depending on how many items you have) The upside is that hitting the free ship minimum shouldn't be too hard with the vast amount of clearance (and a decent selection of sizes for most items). Another plus is the in store return policy, without which, would be a deal-breaker for me.

My selections include this boldly printed drapey skirt, yellow suede fringe sandals, a clear raincoat (bold, youthful, and I might hate it, but...), and this exposed front zipper black dress.

Hopefully I've found some great pieces, otherwise, back they shall go!
