Reviewed: House of Marley Positive Vibration Headphones

I'll be the first to admit that I'm not the worlds most credible audio equipment reviewer. While I have a great appreciation for a good speaker, I don't typically discern between a good speaker, a great speaker, and an amazing speaker - if that makes sense.

That being said, I wanted to evaluate the Positive Vibration headphones from House of Marley on more than just their looks - which of course was why I chose them. I decided the best way to do so was to compare them to two other sets of headphones I had at my disposal, my Audiofly earbuds, and Sean's Sennheiser HD598 over-ear headphones.

I chose a few songs I knew I wouldn't mind listening to a few times each, and replayed individual segments of each with the three different headphones. On the queue was 'Heartbeats' by Jose Gonzalez, 'Bohemian Rhapsody' by Queen, 'Baba O'Riley' by The Who, and 'Africa' by Toto.

Overall I thought the Positive Vibration headphones had a well rounded sound, though I would describe them as sounding a bit flatter than the other two, and with some songs not quite as crisp, but that was only something I noticed through the direct comparison. Full disclosure, I was listening to music streaming over Spotify on the 'extreme' quality level.

For long time listening, the on-ear headphones are immensely more comfortable than the in-ear buds, but not quite as comfortable as the over-ear set, which you barely even notice are on.

In terms of price point the Positive Vibrations are $60, which is about the same as the earbuds, and half the price of the Sennheisers.

Overall I'm very pleased with the Positive Vibration headphones, I feel that for the price you aren't compromising much in terms of sound quality, and I adore the look - plus they come in two other colors if you don't care for rose gold.

Secret weapon

Long sleeve dresses feel a bit like my secret weapon in the fall when I do not want to wear yet another pair of jeans. Over the knee boots are successfully helping me avoid tights. I can't quite figure out when I started to boycott tights, but I will at least until December every year. And after that I will only really wear black. That is a big switch from when I was obsessed with tights in every color and print under the sun, however I feel it is a move in the right direction.

While there will always be far more denim than dresses in my winter wardrobe, if I can breakup the monotony every once in a while with a carefully layered dress, I'm going for it.

I'm feeling pretty pleased that I have an outfit to share today which is summer masquerading as fall. I know you'll look at the wool hat and the long sleeves and the deeper colors and when you click the "pin" button you will write a description like "Perfect Fall Outfit", but you will have been tricked. This is a summer outfit. I am wearing sandals, and it was not cold at all.

It's not your fault, it's the hat. That hat could fool anyone.

Is it real?

A few weeks ago I stopped by a tag sale. There was a table full of old costume jewelry, lace handkerchiefs, and bags. The proprietor informed that everything there was a dollar. Cue the kid in the candy store.

I left with two necklaces, a bracelet and this Dooney and Burke tote bag. (Such self control!) I don't know much about Dooney and Burke. I don't know how to spot a fake or even what the classic designs are. Is it real? I don't know, but it was only a dollar. If it's fake, I'd prefer not to know anyway.

Sea of petals

As it's been warming up, I've been finding my way back into my old office style go-to, dresses and blazers. While most days I still keep things pretty casual, I'm gradually building up to dressier ensembles. I love the cute dragonfly print on this shirt dress, and how well it coordinates with the camel blazer.

I also feel like I want to say a little congratulations to our local celebrity, winner of American Idol, Nick Fradiani. While I may have never been a fan of American Idol, ever since it became apparent that Nick might have a chance at winning I've been watching, and even voting. This past month the favorite small talk topic has been playing 'Six Degrees of Nick Fradiani' and my personal favorite is: my Mother's best friend briefly dated Nick's father when they were in high school. Now I just need to get to Bishop's Orchard and try Nick's ice cream.
