Pom Pom Dress

"I know I can achieve fantastic things in my life."

Forcing spring, is what I call my insistence on wearing warmer weather clothes before it's truly warm. So with a little finagling, like a longer knit dress with over the knee boots and wearing this light jacket as part of the outfit and not my actual outerwear, I force spring. It's always funny how differently I approach 54° in April vs how I approach it in October.

While it wasn't planned, the last time I wore this dress was in October, and I took photos at this same location. Clearly next time I wear this dress I need to get a little more creative.

  1. I definitely try to force spring a bit too. By March and April I am so thoroughly sick of the cold dreary weather I will try anything to make it feel more springlike, especially with clothing! Love that pretty dress on you! Wearing a jacket as part of your outfit is one of my favorite ways to make things work in early spring.

  2. I totally know what you mean, Lydia!! But sometimes it's because I get tired of what I've been wearing and want some variety. Besides---it's chilly in the mornings!!

  4. Maybe it's more like the power of positive dressing? As in, if you dress for the season, then the season will come more quickly? I know I'm reaching, but I've also done the same thing many times and know that I will be doing it far more often when I'm back living in central Canada next winter. And I will be taking some inspiration from this look, because I love the idea of a mini dress with OTK boots but now that I'm thinking of it, I've never worn my own OTK boots this way and that has to change!

  10. Haha! Today I wore a ruffle tank top from last summer because the sun was out but added my trusty field jacket because when I walked out the door it was STILL too cold! Love the combination of the girly dress with the military jacket!

  11. That dress is so pretty! I like how you made it winter appropriate with the boots. I would be forcing spring too. By the end of winter, I'm so over it!

  20. That is a cute dress and I like how you've layered it more for Spring :) It's autumn here but we have cool mornings and then summer temps in the middle of the day, so I really haven't been able to layer as much as I want to. I'm hoping we don't have an extremely cold winter to make up for our milder autumn, ha! I want to layer, but not that much!

Hope you are having a lovely week.
