Just a ride

"Patience is more than just waiting… it is persisting."

You might laugh to hear about all the hassle I caused myself and a few Toys"R"Us employees to get this bike, and of course it all turned out to be completely unnecessary.

To make a long story short, the bike wasn't available on the website to ship to home, or to ship to a store in Connecticut. I called Toys"R"Us and spoke to a person who said that the bike was going out of stock, and that if another store had the bike, they could transfer it to my store. That turned out to not be true on both accounts, and I went through a great deal of begging and pleading to get a store in South Carolina to ship the bike directly to me. Eight weeks went by, still no bike, and every time I called the store asking for a tracking number no one could give it to me. Then the bike came back in stock online. Thinking the first bike was never coming, I ordered another one. They both arrived on the same day.

After all that it was December before I had the bike, so this was my very first opportunity to ride it. Now that Sean and I both have bikes (I was against keeping one bike in our apartment and now there are two) we can go for rides to the beach and around the less busy parts of town. I'm really excited to ride to a park and have a picnic on the first nice weekend Sean doesn't have to work, and of course take more photos of my pretty new bike, preferably with flowers in the basket ;)

  1. Ha ha, sorry that you wound up with two but it's definitely a great bike! I can see why you were so eager to get it.

  2. Definitely worth the hassle! I need to break out my bike again, but it probably needs new wheels since I havent used it in YEARS

  3. What a great story, Lydia!! Would your pup sit in the basket?? That would be darling too!!!

  4. Such a perfect casual chic! Love your jacket!

  5. Well, it sounds like you definitely jumped through a lot of hoops to make this bike yours, but it also looks like it was well worth it, because it's adorable. And really, if one person in your apartment has a bike, it really only makes sense for both of you to have them so you can enjoy them together! Here's hoping that after the long wait, you get lots of enjoyment out of your bike this season. And like Jodie, I'm curious if Chloe would be willing to sit in the basket, because it would be just too cute if she did!

  6. Oh my word. I hate when that happens! Glad you finally got it, though! It's so cute!

  9. What a gorgeous bike! I hope it was worth the wait! That's so funny that it's from Toys R Us... I feel like a kid wouldn't appreciate a bike that pretty! Enjoy bike trips this spring :)

  10. Such a great outfit for cycling around. Have a lovely start to your week.

  11. What a beautiful bike! I can't believe it's been that long. I'm sure it was worth the wait!

  12. Soooo cute ! oh the vintage vibe this bike has and the basket would have also made me very persistent.
We take Vanilla and Marshmallow on the bike´s basket sometimes, although Marshmallow is a bit fat and I fear the basket will not hold her... but they enjoy the rides and become the center of attention. Do you take Chloe on rides ?
