Faux layers

I'll be the first to admit I sometimes get hung-up trying to layer things. Pieces I imagine will go together just won't, the extra pieces appearing bulky and lumpy. Then there is the fussing - continually needing to tug and pull and readjust. Sometimes it's nice to have the layering done for you, effortlessly.

As I'm anxiously shedding as many layers as I can bear, I loved the idea of this faux layered sweater from Chadwicks. Adding to it my own high-low layered necklaces, it made the perfect outfit for a casual date night.

  1. Pieces like this make layering quick + easy- I love it! I agree- sometimes I think some things will look cool layered together, and then I get 'em on and it's too bulky/messy/out of proportion.

    Love the flats too, lady!

  9. I can never layer separate garments all that well - they definitely tend to get bunchy in places and bulky in others. So I'm all for the layering simplicity you've got going on here!

  11. Pieces that do that layering for you are pretty much the best invention ever, in my book. I don't know what it is about layering but unless you have the exact right two pieces, lumps and bumps and tugging inevitably ensue - in fact, I have an outfit post coming up where all of those happened while I desperately tried (very unsuccessfully) to layer a sweater and a blouse. so I am all for this top and I love the way you've styled it, everything about this look really is effortlessly perfect which is exactly what you want with layering.

  12. I got a faux-layer shirt last fall and love it! My layers always seem to stick to each other so one piece that does it all is a total win in my book. This sweater is so chic I think you could probably style it with a pencil skirt, too :)

  14. I have mixed feelings about these faux layers, they make dressing so much easier but then I am stuck with this only way to style it. Great look!

  15. At first I was kind of turned off to the idea of the "fake layer" but I keep seeing cute pieces, like the one you have here, and it's making me want to give one a try! The non-bulkiness factor is certainly appealing.

  18. Love the faux layering - makes a piece so easy to wear! :)

I'm terrible with layering too - maybe because we don't have to do much of it in Brisbane!
