Looking too closely

Taking advantage of the transitional weather, I've been attempting bare legs whenever possible. The mini dress, leather jacket, bootie combination is one I've been wanting to try for a while.

In the fashion blogger world it seems perfectly common place to crop leg lines with booties or midi skirts or booties and midi skirts, but I can't help but think "I want to look taller, and I should be wearing heels instead."

  1. Haha, I know what you mean! I want to look taller, but I love the look of booties and dresses that tall models can seem to pull off

  2. Tell me about it! I find some booties work better than others with short dresses and leather jackets - they are not all created equal and some will never fail to not help in making you look taller, even if they have a heel on them. But I guess we can't fool everyone all the time ;) I still love the look of ankle boots and dresses, especially because it's realistic; not everyone can wear stilettos all day every day when they need to actually get things done (yes, even me) and booties are a great substitute. Plus to be honest, I love every outfit that includes this dress, you could wear it with anything and I would think the outfit was perfect :)

  3. Rock those bare legs while you can, lady! I'm with you. We'll be bundled up head to toe for months + months before we know it. Love those booties, too!

  4. I think it worked and you look plenty tall...and, like Cee, I basically just think you should wear that awesome dress all the time (not to mention that I LOVE the way it looks paired with this jacket).

  5. Haha...so true. I definitely wear "leg shortening" outfits. My mom even started to ask me why I'm always wearing unflattering outfits...haha. But I just don't care anymore! If I feel like wearing ankle booties with a midi dress I'll do it :-) I think you look great in this outfit. I don't think the booties make you look shorter at all.

  6. Sometimes I worry about that too! I think with the bare legs and heels on your booties it definitely works! Show that leg while you still can before the weather gets too cold!

  7. I love the look of ankle boots and a dress (and I'm a shortie!). It's probably because I find boots easier to wear than heels, the chunky or low or non-existent heel works better for me.

You look great in this dress and boots combo! :)

  8. I'm glad you chose the booties for this look, I think it really works. Heels would look good too, and you're right they do make you look taller, but they wouldn't add the same amount of funkiness and fun that the booties add. Love this look!

  9. You are looking fierce. I have such a hard time finding booties because I feel like they really cut into my leg height. :]

  14. Love the print with your leather jacket. I love boots, but you can never beat heels when it comes to lengthening the leg.
