Take time

I requested several days off from work around the holidays and I could not be happier with my decision. Just knowing I have a few extra long weekends in my future is making me a bit giddy. I still haven't had a proper vacation in years, but I'm already really looking forward to nearly a week off for Christmas to just spend time with my family, watch movies and bask in a little holiday spirit.

This weekend my Mom and I have our holiday fairs mapped out and we are going to attempt to make it to eight of them. I'm always hopeful I will find some vintage jewelry gems, get a bit of Christmas shopping done, and at the very least indulge in homemade confections like the Swedish Tea Log.

  1. Love that leather jacket!!
And yep, time off during the holidays is always great! I'm looking forward to sleeping over at my parents the week of Christmas for our holiday movie nights. I could just drive home every night, but its more fun to stay over, haha! But I'll still be working, sadly

  2. Okay, I know I shouldn't, but I just have to say what I have always said to everyone who works for or with me - take your vacations! That rest is so important :) I'm so passionate about it that I've already taken all of my four weeks of vacation for the year, so I'll be working through Christmas, but that's fine since Ian will be as well. We still have lots of holiday fun planned, though and it sounds like you do, too. I hope this is the outfit you're wearing to visit the Christmas markets - the edgy, casual style really suits you. And that bag is gorgeous!

  4. Same. Still loving the new job, but getting quasi burned out with the commute and huge workload. So I took the week after Christmas off to recoop with the kiddos. I already can't wait. I love the casual look here Lydia!

  5. Having extra time around the holidays is great! I'm super lucky in that our office shuts down from December 20 to January 4 pretty much every year so I always get some bonus time.
