The Curve

Goodness, that week certainly went in the blink of an eye - as has the whole half of September. There is no worse feeling than knowing we are charging full speed to the end of summer. The early sunsets, that morning chill in the air. Just another reminder of time lost, time wasted.

Sometimes I wonder what it would be like to abandon New England for the winter, to head south, ring in the new year in a place where donning a sleeveless sequined dress is actually a logical choice. Avoid the doldrums of January and February and head back just when life is starting to appear anew.

I wonder if such a plan were in place I would not be feeling so defeated by the knowledge that winter is coming.

For now, let's just pretend there is still plenty of time left for gingham dresses and sandals.

  1. I'm glad you're enjoying the last bits of nice weather and summer - it actually snowed here a couple of days ago so we are now fully in the grip of an early winter and I'm desperately hoping it reverts to proper fall weather for a bit!

You're welcome to come spend new years in Australia, haha! Plenty of space in this beautiful country :) ALthough to be fair I'll probably be in my PJs for new year - if I am still awake at all, not wearing pretty sequined dresses. WOuld be the weather for it though!

Hope you are having a wonderful start to your weekend :)

  7. Whenever I go and visit my in-laws in Arizona in late winter I completely understand why some people are snow birds. The cold weather seems to hang around so long at times. I love fall, but it's so sad it means the start of cooler weather and end to summer!

  8. Gorgeous dress and sandals.

I know what you mean about the end of summer, although I do always look forward to wearing cosy knits, snuggling under a blanket and lovely comfort food!

  9. As much as I loathe winter - and I really do; the temperatures dropped below twenty this week and I've already started complaing it's too cold - I do think, in some ways, that those months of freezing weather make me appreciate and enjoy summer all the more. When we lived in Vancouver, where the weather was milder, I never made much of an effort to enjoy summer activities because I wouldn't truly be limited from doing most of them in the winter, whereas in Winnipeg, I've pushed myself to have every kind of summer fun possible, knowing these days won't last. That said - there's no reason you shouldn't experience life in California for a period of time, even if you don't decide to stay forever ;)

  10. I really love this dress, you can't go wrong with gingham. I also love the tie around the waist on the dress and those cute slide ons.

  12. That's such a pretty, classic dress, I love it. I know what you mean about daydreaming about warmer places in the winter. My mom lives in Florida during the winter and when I talk to her on those days when it's 0 (or below!) here and it's 80 degrees there it sure does sound tempting!

  13. The dress looks so chic and flattering on you dear. Love the sandals too, such a pretty contrast from the gingham dress.
