Sunny Days

I could not have chosen a worse time of day to be in the middle of a field, but that is just how things worked out. I know the saying "there is no bad lighting, only bad photographers" and I feel like I fall somewhere in the middle of that. Perhaps there was a better way to deal with the light during the shoot, however I used my new favorite trick in Lightroom to correct things - radial filters. This allowed me to control the exposure and white balance on me separately from the exposure and white balance on the background, and I must say, it worked like a charm.

  1. Ha ha, there may not be bad light, but that doesn't mean that all light is created equal. I've been looking through our wedding photos this week, which were shot at midday, when the sun is out in full force - and since Winnipeg is totally flat, when the sun is also inescapable. We had an amazing photographer but even she could only do much about the shadows on our faces which, I admit, are what drives me the most crazy about shooting in bright conditions. Still, filters can do amazing things and if I'm honest, I would never have known your lighting conditions when taking these shots was less than ideal :)

  5. These photos came out so beautifully - seriously, I uncharacteristically wish I was slowly running through a sunny field of sunflowers right now.

  14. The pictures are so pretty, but I totally understand where you're coming from. The harsh sunlight can be so so tough to photograph in!
