Magnolia

It is not happenstance that I come across so many flowering trees this time of year. Over my years of blogging I've spent time each spring keeping a watchful eye of the blooms, hopefully adding a new location to my mental list of places to visit. Timing is important too, and I'll find myself taking the long way home from work most days to check on the progress of the trees.

This beautiful magnolia can be found in the center of Madison, CT, and I've only managed to catch it in bloom once before.

  1. I almost think I love a good magnolia tree better than a cherry blossom tree. I know, I know - but there is something so magnificent about the size of magnolia blossoms and their vibrant colour. Magnolias, like cherry blossoms, are common in Vancouver but non-existent in Winnipeg, so I've been missing seeing all of these blooms this season. I'm glad I get to live vicariously through all your photos! (And I have to say - I love how your outfit coordinates with the tree. Just perfect.)

  3. You are always the best at coordinating with the beautiful scenery in your photos! The magnolia trees are gorgeous, and I love the similar color of your pretty pink blouse. I hope to eventually venture beyond my yard for photos--logistically speaking it's just too hard right now with the kids since my husband takes my pictures. But I'm always so inspired by your gorgeous photos and the locations you find!

Now that I think of it I think we do not have Magnolia trees here.
The pictures are gorgeous, postcard like.

  8. And you look like you're blooming just like the tree is, Lydia!! Maybe it's the fun color of that top, or maybe it's the great environment??

  10. So gorgeous! I love the pink magnolias. We used to have one in our backyard at our old house (or something that looks really similar). And your pink shirt looks perfect with it!
