Flirting with Floral

Even in the most unassuming of places, explosions of pink petals can be seen. The trees in the center of my town are some of my favorites, and I've taken photos in this spot every year for the last seven. I always try to get in as many outfits as I can, since the blooms rarely last more than a week. This is one of those tricky, high traffic spots, especially on a gorgeous spring afternoon with families out enjoying the weather and grabbing ice cream from. I posted my favorite photobomb on Twitter, further evidence that men just don't know how to handle women taking photos in public.

I am beginning to think I should purge my closet of my printed pants, since I found it such a struggle to style these. I'd mentioned loving Dani's outfit with her floral pants, which prompted me to want to wear mine. When it came to styling them, the chambray shirt was a strong contender, then I thought about print mixing; only after throwing half my closet on my bed, I ended up basically copying her look of a navy top with a white jacket. I thought maybe I would have just rather had a solid pant. However, clearly some part of me is drawn to printed pants, because didn't I just mention that I ordered a striped pair the other day?

While I admire people whose style seems so clearly defined, I can't seem to pin my own down, so in the interim, I will continue to flirt with printed pants.

  1. I admire anyone who is even willing to attempt to wear floral pants. I think the last time I had a pair was in 2010, and after a few brief and relatively unsuccessful attempts at trying to style them, I just gave up. To be honest, I've never looked back. But then again, I've never been a great lover of wearing floral prints, so that's probably why. I continue to admire anyone who can pull off a floral bottom, and I love how you've styled these pants. But I also recognise that it undoubtedly wasn't easy!

  2. I love how you styled these pants! I think they totally work with the white jacket and nude flats. In theory you'd think they'd be as easy to style as a floral skirt, but I know the reality is that pants are usually just harder! You look so pretty and springy though!

  4. I think these are fun pants! I can see how they could be more challenging to style though I think you did really well.

  6. I don't think you need to define your style. Style is something that is constantly evolving. So if you're into floral pants, go rock it girl. Which by the way you did! I'm loving the them and they look amazing with those beautiful blooming trees.

  8. What beautiful blossoms in these photos! And I love that white jacket - I'd never think to shop at Athleta for everyday casual wear.

  9. The flowers in this picture are gorgeous! I feel you with the printed pants. I just got rid of mine since I never wore them. I couldn't think of different ways to style them. I really like you have styled yours here though. That jacket is so cute!

  11. I just bought my first pair of printed pants for work and I have yet to wear them because I feel so strange not wearing a solid color pant! But I love these and they are so perfect for spring/summer!

  12. Oh I am on the fence on this one. I think it's so fun and I see so many people wearing them and think wow that looks great.....but when it comes to me I feel out of my element. I do think striped pants are definitely easier to style than floral or another print though. I think you did a great job styling them!

  13. You got some great photos, adn you can't tell it was really busy in the pics! You did well :)

I struggle to define my own personal style but I do know I have a love for prints - even if I find them tricky to wear in my wardrobe. I'm trying to buy more neutral pieces, definitely a work in progress for me, as I can't resist a pretty print! :) And your pants are so pretty!

Hope that you are having a nice week so far :)
