Flirting with Floral

Even in the most unassuming of places, explosions of pink petals can be seen. The trees in the center of my town are some of my favorites, and I've taken photos in this spot every year for the last seven. I always try to get in as many outfits as I can, since the blooms rarely last more than a week. This is one of those tricky, high traffic spots, especially on a gorgeous spring afternoon with families out enjoying the weather and grabbing ice cream from. I posted my favorite photobomb on Twitter, further evidence that men just don't know how to handle women taking photos in public.

I am beginning to think I should purge my closet of my printed pants, since I found it such a struggle to style these. I'd mentioned loving Dani's outfit with her floral pants, which prompted me to want to wear mine. When it came to styling them, the chambray shirt was a strong contender, then I thought about print mixing; only after throwing half my closet on my bed, I ended up basically copying her look of a navy top with a white jacket. I thought maybe I would have just rather had a solid pant. However, clearly some part of me is drawn to printed pants, because didn't I just mention that I ordered a striped pair the other day?

While I admire people whose style seems so clearly defined, I can't seem to pin my own down, so in the interim, I will continue to flirt with printed pants.

Blush Joggers

I'm so happy I stumbled upon these linen joggers earlier this year. They are the perfect cross between lounge wear and clothing I would wear out of the house - even to work (often to work). So comfortable, and the wrinkle issue is lessened by the fact that they are a blend rather than 100% linen. I don't typically buy multiples, but since I adored these pants so much in the green, when I spotted the blush pair on the sale rack, how could I say no? True to form, and the reason I always tell myself not to buy multiples, I really do prefer the green pair!

One step forward, two steps back

No matter how long I stare at my computer screen, I just can't seem to write this post.

As much as I tried to avoid social media yesterday, I simply couldn't. As expected, the people who I follow were sad and disappointed, but thankfully rather than the outpourings of negativity that have been so closely associated with this election, all I saw were messages of hope, that this is still our country, still our democracy, and still a place where everyone matters.

Faux jumpsuit

Not quite willing to jump on the one piece trend, no matter how how sexy and fabulous so many bloggers are making it look, I found a quick and easy way to replicate the look of a jumpsuit simply by tucking a black tee into my joggers.

Comfortable and simple with no bathroom drama! While this is something I wore to work, the tee can easily be swapped out for something a bit sexier and the 'might as well be pajamas' joggers can work for a night out. There, I think my New Year's Eve look is done.

Silk blazer

As I have confessed before, I find Joie to be one of those brands I continually gravitate to. While I may not presently be in a financial situation where I'm comfortable paying list prices for any of their pieces, should one appear in a secondhand shop, there is seldom an occasion when I can pass it up.

This silk blazer was picked up a few months ago when Coco's on the Green was having a half off sale and for just under $30, even in a size too small, I wasn't about to let it go. It doesn't even seem to small, given the boyfriend style of the cut, I just don't have a ton of mobility in my arms and I'm not about to go layering it over a sweater.

Unsurprisingly, I love wearing joggers to work. I could have just as easily slipped into a different pair of black pants, but nothing feels more like wearing pajamas than a knit jogger. I was even planning on taking this look out to dinner with a friend (hence the fancy clutch) but those plans never did come to fruition.
