A Lengthy Dilemma

These jeans are supposed to be cropped. Given my height, naturally they do not fall at a cropped length on me, but I left the hem alone and wore them anyway. But I need to know, in your expert opinions, should I shorten them? If so, how much needs to be chopped off? (For reference, this is how they looked on the model.)

I'm pleased that bare ankles are even up for debate right now. I can't believe April is nearly over and we are finally getting some brushes with spring weather. There were even some blooming cherry blossom trees behind Yale's gates. I was really sad I couldn't get to them. I mean, I suppose if I were the conniving kind of person who follows people with keys through locked gates it wouldn't have been too hard. But those kinds of situations are so far out of my comfort zone you might as well ask me to go take outfit photos on the moon. I'll just patiently wait for the trees within my reach to bloom.

  1. I actually love the length of these jeans on you, although based on the hem I can tell they were intended to be cropped. I say wer them this way while the weather is still cool, and then when it warms up, you can decide if you want them shorter. If it were me, I'd probably take them up about 2.5 inches to crop them. I like a crop that sits at my lower mid-calf, and that's where I chop most of my too long jeans to ;)

  2. I love that last photo! :) Even if you didn't get through the locked gates you still got some nice shots.

I find cropped pants are always ankle length on me, petite girl problems! So I have never found the perfect pair of cropped pants. I really like these as is, you could always try pinning them up and take a look and see if you prefer them shorter They are lovely either way! :)

Hope you are having a nice week so far! It's a good one here as we have a day off tomorrow! :)

  3. Hi! You look absolutely amazing. Personally, I do not think you need to shorten the hem...I do think, however, you need a much higher heel bc of the length of the pant on your petite frame.

  4. Hmmm, I think the length works but if you want them more cropped I say go for it! Loving the black and white look!

  5. I'm with you- jeans always tend to be long on me, and cropped stuff doesn't really end up cropped on me, either! I love the way you styled these white jams, though- the black heel is perfect with 'em!

  6. Initially I was going to say you should crop them because I'm a short girl, too, so I know your pain. But after seeing them on you, I think the length is actually pretty perfect. And I would love to see this look without the cardigan (I know the weather didn't allow for it), because the scallop top with these white pants and belt is just a totally chic look!

  7. I kind of like them this way, but if you want them to be cropped, then I would take about 3 inches off. They look great with that pretty scalloped top!

  8. Great neutrals and your scalloped top is so cute! At least you were able to capture the pretty cherry blossoms in your photos. :) I think this is a great look overall and the jeans are nice this length. As a fellow petite, I have the same problem with cropped pants. I will say I recently purchased a pair of cropped wide leg pants that landed in the same spot for me and I decided to shorten them. I am now much happier with them.

  9. Personally I would crop them just a titch. Just a little tiny bit....they are so close to hitting at just right the spot.

  10. I do think that if they were an inch or two shorter, it'd look more intentional!!

  11. I can't decide! I do love the cropped look, but the way you styled it in this photo works with the length it is now! I guess it depends if you plan on wearing heels with these often?

  12. I'm loving the crop / wide leg pant trend. Yours look fantastic on you... as for getting them hemmed? I can see them working both ways, but I'm definitely a fan of the cropped look + so perfect for spring when paired with sandals ect! xo

  14. Woohoo for bare ankles...finally! :) I never know about cropped pant-lengths--they never quite work on me either and I never really know where they're actually supposed to hit. I feel like I see such a wide variety of what people wear. I'd just go with the length you like and feel most comfortable in--and I guess on a practical side which length looks best with most of your shoes :)

  17. Hello
They are perfect in this length, although now I want to cut a few centimeters in some of my pants. But the look is perfect btw.

I hope you have a great weekend, lots of love.

  18. Yes I get what you are saying. Sometimes chasing around for these great backgrounds can be frustrating but when it does work out we do have to rejoice! Lol I think the length of these jeans are fine on you. I love that the hem has the unfinished look - it's a beautiful pair!
