Peaks of the Week

Happy Friday! This weekend is a busy one for me - breaking my rule of only one plan per weekend - I'm attending an insider event at LuLu The Face Company on Saturday, and then going to brunch at The Place 2 Be on Sunday. But that does mean I'll have stuff to blog next week, yay! Haha.

❀ It's been 10 years since The Office's Dinner Party episode, I enjoyed this look back on it. And while we're on the subject, how do you not love John Krasinski?

❀ New Haven made this list of cities and states which will pay you to live there. It's probably one of the few places where my dream of owning a giant old Victorian home could become a reality, with an equally good chance that it would be squished in-between neighbors, as many homes were built before zoning laws. Though if I could have this house, I wouldn't care. Isn't it completely breathtaking?

❀ Loved this answer on Quora with regards to choice overload.

❀ On growth.

❀ Target, how do you always have so many cute things, like these scalloped leggings and this striped dress?

❀ I do wish it was easier to make new friends, but according to this study, you've got to log 200 hours of quality time with a person within four months of meeting them, or you'll probably never be friends.

❀ How do you not love when a dog and cat are BFFs who hike and camp and have an instagram with the aesthetic of Sarah Vickers?

  1. Whoa, that hours with friends thing is crazy!!! Doesn't fully work for me since so many of my friends were made online or at Harry Potter events but definitely interesting.
And that choice overload thing is very interesting, and true!! I'm so bad at decisions even with only a few options, haha.
So many fun plans for this weekend!! I hope you enjoy them all!

  5. I also recently just rewatched the Dinner Party episode and it still made me laugh a lot. I might need to do a whole Office marathon. And I personally can't wait to see A Quiet Place. It looks so scary.

  9. The New Haven bit is interesting. I have lived here all my life and didn’t know that. The house is beautiful, I can walk to it from where I live :)

The logging hours with friends is also interesting. Most of my friends these days have been made online but those friends that do live around me, the 200+ hours were logged long ago. Not as many hours are spent together now but we still have each other’s back when needed.

  10. Oh wow, that 200 hours thing seems crazy high!

The government have done various things like that here to get people to move away from the cities and they will pay you to live elsewhere. One of my friends has moved, her husband relocated from his workplace in the suburbs to one hours away. He gets paid more for it, their house is paid for, and they are only about an hour and a half away so it's pretty good for them, while their kids are little and before they start school they are taking the opportunity. I'm such a city person though, I love being able to pop out to the shops when I forget something, I couldn't do outback life!

Hope you are having a lovely weekend! It does sound busy, but very fun :) We are having a quiet one to help us recover from being unwell this week.

  11. Hmm I really have to think about all the time i spend on connecting with people when I first meet them now! I do have one friend who actually doesn't fit that but do think it's true for the most part.
Oh and Target - they do have such tempting options! Their home section is my latest focus - such cute things!

  12. Oh my God, that sound in New Haven is to die for! And so full of history. I admit that owning a freestanding house has never been high on my list of life goals becuse I find the idea of maintaining a yard incredibly unappealing, but I did recently stumble upon a historic house in my own city in need of renovations that really did tempt me.
