Jumpsuit

When Meg and I planned a brunch at Terrain to be followed by the Darphin launch event at Anthropologie, I knew it would be the perfect opportunity to debut my new Free People jumpsuit. However, one small issue was that it was still about four inches too long even with my highest platform sandals on. I fully intended to hem it properly, but forgot that I don't have an iron at my apartment, so instead I had a movie marathon while I hand sewed all evening. Short people problems.

I know I've been pretty anti-jumpsuit, and that is mostly because of the annoyance of getting out of it to use the bathroom, but since this is strapless, it was pretty easy. (I went and complicated things with the belt.) And I really did enjoy wearing it and embracing my inner bohemian. Plus my latest set from Rocksbox paired with it perfectly, I'm even debating keeping the cute opal ring...

Even though I didn't end up purchasing any of the Darphin products, it was still a good excuse for a long overdue blogger meet up with Meg, and since we were already in Westport, we had to make a stop at Roundabout for their end of season sale - it's a tradition! And in keeping with the tradition, I was pretty good and only got one thing, a floral print Equipment blouse.

  1. A jumpsuit four inches too long even with your highest heels? Who was supposed to be able to wear it without hemming? I digress. With hemming, this jumpsuit could not be more gorgeous on you - you really do look perfectly put-together but also bohemian in it, especially with the bamboo bag and gold bangles as accessories. And I love the wide belt as a finishing touch, I'm so glad wide belts are finally starting to be available in stores again because they have always been my favourite.

  2. I can't believe you hemmed it all by hand, Lydia!! Now that's dedication!!
But it turned out perfectly, so great job! And the belt helps make it shorter too!!

  4. OMG that is a lot of hemming ! however the results were good. I like the idea of a strapless jumpsuit. You chose the colors well.

  5. As much as the belt complicates things in terms of getting in and out of this, it looks really wonderful with it. Maybe I need to rethink my stance on jumpsuits...

  10. I love the obi belt with the jumpsuit even if it made the bathroom situation tricky! You did a great job with the the hemming too - I use hemming tape or go to the tailor, haha!

How do you survive without an iron?! I try buy things that need little or no ironing but I have a couple pieces I really have to iron.

Hope you are having a great start to the week :)

  12. I can't do jumpsuits. I go to the bathroom WAY too much. They really should come up with a solution to that because I think they are SO cute! Love this one on you. Such a 70s look!
