Snowy Shores

I feel safe in the rhythm and flow of ever-changing life.

The conflict of the snowy day - do I want to just hunker down on the couch all day, or do I want to  bundle up, venture out, and try to capture some of the magic that is a snowstorm?

The snow was really coming down, and with the cold and the wind, I'm surprised we got any decent photos at all. I even did something I've never done before - left the car running while we took photos! I'm always super conservative when it comes to leaving the car running, I won't even go through drive-throughs!

What is it about the beach all covered in snow that I find so intriguing? perhaps because it's the opposite of everything that comes to mind when I think about the beach, or perhaps the absence of people, either way it's one of my favorite places to go when it's snowing.

  1. That is a lot of snow! You look so stylish and warm which is really hard to do in a snowstorm. We just got a dusting here, but its still enough to keep the kids home from school oddly enough.

  4. I love these shots- so cute! And it's really coming down- love a good snowstorm, but only if it means I can play it in for a bit and then tuck away inside for the rest of the day!

  6. I never like the beach more than on cold days when there is no one around. Sun and sand don't do much for me, but give me an abandoned beach and I am all over it - add snow and it's even better. I can imagine that taking these photos probably wasn't as much fun as it looks, but the results really are magical and perfectly wintery. I keep hoping it will snow just once more, on a day when Ian doesn't have to work, so we can get some similar shots, but I'm guessing it's not meant to be for me this year.

  9. Love your snowy pictures! I am fascinated by the way beaches look in winter. Whenever I pass Lake Michigan I can't help but stare at the snow and ice!

  21. These photos are lovely! I always have that same debate and usually hunkering down wins, but this past weekend, I had plans to meet some friends, so I did end up venturing out. The snow was very pretty and I'm glad I got to see it, even if I was freezing the whole time!
