January Closet Additions

While I'm not imposing any monthly spending budget this year, I have decided that I'm going to do a better job at recording my purchases and tracking my spending. Enter the monthly budget update post!

The Old Navy sweater dress wasn't supposed to cost me anything, as I was going to exchange a Christmas gift for it, but the sales associates struggle with issuing store credit for online returns, so I ended up just paying for it outright and they had to mail me a gift card for future use.

I picked up the ring during Gorjana's 'hangover' sale. They were offering 70% off and I was about to pull the trigger when I realized shipping was nearly $10. I closed the window. The next day I looked at the site again and found that they'd gone to 80% off. Since the ring was originally $88 and the extra reduction pretty much equalled the cost of shipping, I could no longer help myself. I feel proud I limited myself to just one piece!

The boots were a bit of an impulse purchase, I was in DSW looking for a pair of black over the knee boots when I spotted these. They were a great price, comfortable and I just fell for them.

While I haven't been thrifting much lately, I did stop in once, and when I found a cute black suede mini skirt for $6 I had to try it on. Obviously it fit.

Old Navy Sweater Dress $20
Gorjana Ojai Ring $27
Suede Mini Skirt $6
Adrienne Vittadini Jabine Boots $60

Total spent: $113

  1. It looks like you've added some great pieces to your wardrobe this month - that ring is absolutely gorgeous, and what a steal of a price! I'm... I guess the word is proud... to say I've bought only one thing this month. And yet, despite that, I don't seem to any further ahead financially than I am any other month, so I think it just means I've spent my money on having fun instead of buying clothes!

  2. nice set i love over the knee boots

  3. This was a great month for you! Those boots are just fabulous and what a steal on your mini skirt!

  4. Great pieces - love that ring! I'm going to try to start some sort of capsule wardrobe so I hope that helps with my budgeting.

  5. There were so many great deals in the hangover sale. I was a little too late to the party to get what I wanted, so I ended up not getting anything, but it's exciting to see what others got at the sale. That skirt is SO very you. Great pick and a great price.

  6. My fave is the skirt !
I purchased a few items here and there this month and although I did not spend much, I have to admit there is guilt in the air.

  7. Great pieces! Old Navy is perfect for staples like that sweater dress.
