Blanket of white

White is my favorite color, and I especially love winter white, so I'm styling my white jeans again. They are a bit on the thin side, but I was hoping the Joules boots would provide better insulation than they did. Perhaps they only work well in cold weather if you have the fleece liners?

Despite my lower half being chilly, the combination of chambray, wool, and down kept me feeling pretty toasty on top.

This weekend I'm going to NYC with Sean, and I'm really stressing over what to pack. With freezing temps and snow in the forecast I feel like it's going to be tough to balance something that is walkable, slush proof, cute for going out to dinner, and sufficiently warm.

If you are reading this anytime before Saturday morning, give me your suggestions!

  1. Winter white is my favourite, too, as you know. In fact, I really think I should get my white jeans out again now that I see you in yours :) As for packing for New York, I wish I had helpful tips but to be honest, in freezing temperatures I tend to stick to a uniform - turtleneck sweater, skinny jeans, knee high boots, full length coat and beanie. In a variety of neutral shades, of course, and mixed up with different scarves ;)

  4. I'd pack some leggings and thicker socks - then the choice of pants and shoes is a bit easier because you've already got the extra warmth and water protection!

  7. Very pretty… now on going to NYC in this cold brrrrrrrr times I'd recommend black trousers that you can dress up or down. I'd keep it very tan+grey+black. Then again I'm in summer ;)

  10. I wrote this long comment and then it didn't post, so I'm going to try and remember what I said. I think you should take a dress for dinner because, like you, my bottom half stays a little chilly in pants just because there's not enough room for layers. If you wore a dress with a nice pair of heeled boots, as many pairs of leggings/fleece lined tights as you can, and one of your fantastic over coats I think you might be warm enough to walk to dinner. Then you could peel off layers and stuff them in your purse as needed.

  12. You lower half may have been cold but you sure looked cute! Good luck packing for NYC! I have no advice on how to look cute in the snow because I live in CA and the area I live in doesn't get a lot of snow. Have a fun weekend!

  17. I'm so bummed to hear that the Joules boots weren't warm enough! Mine are definitely warmer than the Hunter boots, but I still need to wear hiking socks with them. Part of the problem is my feet are more likely to sweat in rubber boots, so I need the sweat-whisking benefit of sport socks.
