Winter blues

This winter is getting me down. I realize I probably sound like a broken record, these past few weeks I've discussed little else than the weather, but for some reason this one is hitting me hard. Outfit photos have become a struggle, and this weekend I didn't take any; hence I have no outfit to share today.

Perhaps it really has been colder this year, perhaps it's Seasonal Affective Disorder, perhaps I've just lost touch with the joy of getting dressed. I'm in a horrible denim rut that I can't seem to find my way out of, and I'm sad I never managed to share any of my holiday outfits here. I keep hoping I will have a chance to put them back on and take some photos.

Hopefully my winter blues won't last too much longer, and while I know shopping is only a temporary pick-me-up, there is something pretty satisfying about clicking 'add to cart', and thinking about warmer days.

  4. My father and sister both suffer from S.A.D. She spends her winters in sweatshirts and jeans over leggings because she just can't get warm (and we live in the South!), so I understand what you're suffering from, even if it's not SAD. Sometimes you just gotta get warm and there's nothing to fix it besides a Florida vacay.

  5. Oddly enough I have been pretty good this month about taking pictures every day. Except for yesterday...it was rainy and gross so I wore leggings and a big sweater, haha.
All those things are making me long for warmer weather though.

  8. But your winter blue picks are so pretty! Specifically that Kate Spade bag :) I've been having the winter blues, but because I'm missing the cold and the snow (I haven't seen any this year!)...so for the complete opposite reason really :)

  11. I've been in a denim rut so I get it -
Now, what if you get a white fabric and use it as a backdrop for indoors ?

  14. Goodness, girl. I am right there with you. I have felt so unmotivated since around Thanksgiving. However, this week the sun has started to actually come out and it isn't quite so frigid, so I am feeling my inner self start to stir again. What a relief. Hope your blues lift soon!

  16. I know exactly how you feel. I don't think I've ever loved January - it was a truly horrible month where I grew up - but since I started blogging, every year it feels more miserable. The weather is always awful but especially on weekends when I want to take photos and so I find myself constantly scrambling to create content or worse, without any content at all. Last year was particularly tough since I had just gone back to an office job after 14 months away and I see you going through a lot of what I went through then. If it helps - it gets easier. The weather will improve and more importantly, you'll figure out a routine that works again. But it takes time for all of those things to fall into place and frankly, sometimes in the winter it's just as much fun to look at summer things and imagine better weather. I can't tell you how much I'd rather be wearing those adorable flat sandals than my tights and boots right now.

  19. I've mentioned before how hard it is to take pictures this time of year. I also am not super motivated. I just got those shorts for a cruise we're taking in March and I love those sandals.

  21. Ughhh I hate the winter. I have a case of the winter blues from January until March. I just hate cold weather! But these are all awesome picks to help beat the blues!

  22. Awww, I'm sorry about your winter blues. I usually get bummed during winter too. Hang in there! In the meantime, your collage has me dreaming of a warm weather vacation...

  23. I love all of these fun summery pieces. Bloggers are human, so it's totally ok, if your OOTD photos slow down until the weather breaks. You're not the only one who has a tough time around winter. But just think, we are seeing more sunlight each day and it will be really noticeable in a few weeks!

  24. I've been feeling the same way, Lydia!! Hate the winter blues. But I love that Essie color and it would definitely add a little brightness to any look!

  29. I so feel your pain. We have been having here these January weeks very cold for Ireland and my wardrobe is not at all ready for it as most of people in Ireland. I'm so looking forward spring. I'm so trying to keep light layers.
Blue is I think my all time favorite color yet I don't have much in my wardrobe of blue. I think by now you know I have soft spot for stripes, so I love your stripy picks and that gorgeous cross body bag as well as dainty ring.
