By hand

I've inherited a lot of lovely traits from my Mother, and one of them is an obsession with greeting cards. There is something so special about receiving a handwritten note in the mail. Once a fact of life, sending cards now feels like a dying tradition, though not one I will ever give up on.

While I've bought more than my fair share of Hallmark cards, I prefer to find cards that are more unique, like this hand drawn one from Eternal Girl's etsy shop. Julia creates not just greeting cards, but jewelry as well, all with symbolic, henna inspired designs. Julia says the connection to people through her creations is large part of what inspires her, and it is that same feeling that has resulted in my love of greeting cards.
And also, they are pretty.

Today's post is also a special collaboration with Megan from Closet Fashionista. My first CT blogger friend, we've been so fortunate to share many blogging experiences together! While I'm showing off the beautiful Pinwheel Greeting Card, Meg is showcasing an adorable Harry Potter pendant, so be sure and visit her blog as well!

  8. I absolutely adore the dress, belt and the pattern mix brought in by that fab houndstooth coat.
I love writing, as in handwriting, there is something magical and individual about just writing on paper.
I like to place my head sideways on the desk and watch the ink flow as the pen rolls... yeah, i told you i was weird.

  10. There really isn't a way to equate the feeling of a good ole fashioned hand written card or letter in the mail. Good for you for keeping the tradition going! I love your black and white look today too!

  11. Getting mail has always been the highlight of my day, ever since I was little - the thing I was most excited about when I moved out was having my own mailbox.(My mom also gets excited about mail, we often bickered over whose turn it was to check it on a given day.) It's a shame people don't send more mail, a card is the quickest way to brighten someone's day, especially when it's a cute one. The one you sent me at Christmas was so lovely and this one is just fabulous, too! Julie is obviously very talented.

  22. Ooo, her cards are gorgeous! And that's definitely a nice tradition to keep up. I'm great at sending cards to people of older generations, but for some reason never seem to send them to my friends. I need to work on that!

  26. AW THIS POST MAKES ME GO SQUEE INSIDE. I love that you made such a cute post out of writing and mailing the card. Especially the picture of you physically placing the card in the mailbox. #1 fashion blogger Lydia Abate. :D

Love that coat, especially with that dress. Augh! I always feel like when I wear black and white I'm so dull, but this is something I would snatch up in an instant. You find the best patterns.
