Heading in

It has been gloriously hot this past week, and I'm quite grateful that I live on the shoreline and can visit the beach anytime I like. Since I like the idea of a cover-up that can go from the beach to dinner, this cotton shirtdress that InStyleSwimwear sent over is just perfect.

The loose, simple cut in a soft, thin cotton works well for lounging around the beach, but add a belt and a few accessories and it's perfect for dinner at a local seafood restaurant.

Now, if you are still working on your tan and you think the khaki would simply wash you out, InStyleSwimwear has lots of other cover-ups you can check out, I'm partial to this tie-dye maxi.

And for the record, I did go swimming in the Sound, for the first time in years. The water was ridiculously warm!

  1. So envious of the fact that the waters by you are warm already! Lake Michigan takes awhile to warm up.

  3. You are so lucky to live near the beach! I'd have to travel at least seven hours to get to it. This pictures are dreamy, this is my idea of what summer should look like.

  18. Hehehe, I love that last photo of you--all blurred out and ready to be taken by the ocean.

That coverup is perfect for you. I really need a coverup like that, because I always tend to want to go places after I go swimming. Perfect example yesterday: I was at the pool with a friend and wanted a Starbucks tea afterward SO I went with a mere tie-top over my bathing suit and went through the drive through and the barista gave me a strange look.

  19. I'm so jealous! I haven't been to the beach in ages. And that is the most perfect straw fedora (I've been on the hunt)!

  22. I have to say, I think I'd be much more of a summer girl if I lived by a beautiful beach like this one! I grew up hours away from the nearest lake, and I'm in a similar situation here in Paris; when I lived in Vancouver there were beaches, granted, but they're not very clean in general and the sand certainly doesn't look so inviting! Suffice it to say you have me craving a seaside vacation with these gorgeous photos :)

  30. I like the idea of a versatile coverup, too! So many of the ones I see are so low or revealing... I just end up wearing a regular dress to the beach.
