By hand

I've inherited a lot of lovely traits from my Mother, and one of them is an obsession with greeting cards. There is something so special about receiving a handwritten note in the mail. Once a fact of life, sending cards now feels like a dying tradition, though not one I will ever give up on.

While I've bought more than my fair share of Hallmark cards, I prefer to find cards that are more unique, like this hand drawn one from Eternal Girl's etsy shop. Julia creates not just greeting cards, but jewelry as well, all with symbolic, henna inspired designs. Julia says the connection to people through her creations is large part of what inspires her, and it is that same feeling that has resulted in my love of greeting cards.
And also, they are pretty.

Today's post is also a special collaboration with Megan from Closet Fashionista. My first CT blogger friend, we've been so fortunate to share many blogging experiences together! While I'm showing off the beautiful Pinwheel Greeting Card, Meg is showcasing an adorable Harry Potter pendant, so be sure and visit her blog as well!

I received this card for the purpose of this post. My views and opinions are my own.

  1. You are the only person I know who would look so pretty while writing a card. Also, I love the timing of this post considering our emails last night! These are so tempting to purchase!

  2. Julia is so talented, amazing creations! I love stationary, I buy so many cards and envelopes, bad thing is I never know what to write! lol I think traditional mail is so mmm romantic ha ha I once received some postals from a bf when he was in Europe and it was such a nice gesture. Love that grid print dress, so classy!

  4. I also love cards, thank you cards, notes, you name it! I think they're so personable and so pretty. Love these cards.

  6. I am loving the pattern mixing with your dress and coat! You look so chic! Gorgeous ring, too!

  7. You know I love a handwritten note as well :) I actually need some new stationery so I'll definitely be checking out this shop. I really love your graphic black and white dress too!

  8. I absolutely adore the dress, belt and the pattern mix brought in by that fab houndstooth coat.
I love writing, as in handwriting, there is something magical and individual about just writing on paper.
I like to place my head sideways on the desk and watch the ink flow as the pen rolls... yeah, i told you i was weird.

  9. The card design is really pretty. Looks like a lot of thought, time and effort went into it!

  10. There really isn't a way to equate the feeling of a good ole fashioned hand written card or letter in the mail. Good for you for keeping the tradition going! I love your black and white look today too!

  11. Getting mail has always been the highlight of my day, ever since I was little - the thing I was most excited about when I moved out was having my own mailbox.(My mom also gets excited about mail, we often bickered over whose turn it was to check it on a given day.) It's a shame people don't send more mail, a card is the quickest way to brighten someone's day, especially when it's a cute one. The one you sent me at Christmas was so lovely and this one is just fabulous, too! Julie is obviously very talented.

  12. snail mail is the best and i love handwritten cards. the black/white outfit looks great on you too!

    cute & little

  13. Great post on National Handwriting Day! Also thanks for reminding me to get new stationary and send out more invitations and thank you cards - it is such a lovely personal touch, isn't it? Will check out your links now.

    Your photos are adorable!!
