Pop of neon

This was almost going to be a completely black and white outfit, until I realized how cold it was and how I was definitely going to need another layer.

I love this bright lime button down; somehow it became such an easy color to wear. And my best friend gave me an early Christmas present - a gold and neon bracelet, which is a perfect match.

Into the Wild

One of my favorite second hand shops, Coco's on the Green has a smaller sister store a few towns over, and while I don't go there all to often, it seems that every time I do, they are having a half off the entire store sale.

I wasn't even planning on going in, they were literally closing in a minute, but when it comes to half off everything, I am like a moth to a flame.

I did a quick lap around the store and zeroed in on this metallic animal pencil skirt, which was reduced to $15.

It's a pretty unique piece, and not too over the top. It felt very me - classic, but quirky (and half off). So I had to have it.

Holiday card exchange

Preparation for the upcoming holidays is in full swing, and once again I would like to invite you to participate in a card exchange.

I love cards, buying them, receiving them - emails, texts, and facebook messages have got nothing on a beautiful card with a hand written greeting you find in your mail box.

In an effort to spread a little holiday cheer, anyone who would like can send me an email with your mailing address, I'll respond with mine and we'll exchange cards.

I really enjoyed this last year, and I hope those of you who participated did as well and will again this year!

Ily couture holiday style guide

Ily Couture invited me to talk about holiday style, and for me it means lots of sparkle, and lots of comfort. I would love to pair my black sequined mini with the "oh my chic" sweatshirt and shine necklace. I'd add some black tights, my black strappy peep toes, and some cocktail rings for good measure.

ILY COUTURE Holiday Style Guide

Illy is running a competition, and if my blog post gets the most comments and tweets I'll get to run a giveaway for a Basilissa necklace or bracelet (as well as get one for myself)!

If you already have some Ily Couture jewelry, right now through December 10th Ily is running an instagram contest, and here are the details:

"Love your ILY COUTURE jewelry? Show us how you wear it! Share your photo on Instagram with the tag #ILYCOUTUREHOLIDAY for a chance to win the Basilissa necklace or bracelet."

This post was sponsored by Ily Couture, my thoughts and opinions are my own.

Glitter Booties

The Glitter Booties started to become trendy last winter, and as much as I wanted a pair, there were no affordable options, and I couldn't even find a decent pair to attempt a DIY on.

This year however, glitter booties can be found nearly everywhere and at any price point. These little beauties were discovered at T.J. Maxx, in the wrong isle. I was about three seconds away from a pouty monolog about how the cute shoes are never in my size when I noticed they were in fact size eight and not nine, like the pair which flanked them.

The damage: $17. Of course if you aren't able find them at T.J. Maxx, you can buy them here for $40.

Thanksgiving

I hope everyone who celebrated, had a happy and safe Thanksgiving.

Mine was very low-key this year; I spent the morning watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade (someday, I want to go to New York and watch it in person) and giving myself a Pinterest inspired manicure.

Then I (obviously) decided to forgo my family's typical Thanksgiving dress code of denim and wear my chevron knit dress. If being the most overdressed person in a room bothered me, I would have stopped this blog long ago.
You know what I'm talking about.

Leopard fedora

Maxies are still my favorite new go-to item this Fall, which now feels much more like winter.
I've decided to treat the maxi like a pair of jeans - anything can go with one.

My leopard fedora has made it back out of hibernation, and even though it's a bit big and slouchy, I still love it and will be wearing it a lot more.

After dark

Once again the sun managed to slip away before I had a chance to take my outfit photos... I guess I spent a little too long in TJMaxx...

Despite my dislike of photos in the dark, I felt like I needed to take them anyway, with the glowing Christmas lights being a small consolation.

Stuffing

This weekend I finally stared to deal with my over-stuffed closet issue. I often have these grand ideas that I'm just going to pick a day and go through everything with a lot of tough love, and end up with this radical closet overhaul; but somehow I doubt that will ever happen.

Instead, I challenged myself to take out 20 things. I managed 17.

There is a lot I haven't really been wearing, but I'm just not yet ready to part with. I can't quite explain these mental blocks and weird emotional attachments I have towards a blazer I thrifted but only wore twice, a skirt that is really too short, and something I needed to alter three years ago and still haven't yet.

But I'm trying, and doing a little at a time.

Not helping the cause at all - this weekend I bought two skirts, a pair of boots, and a pair of gloves.
The only really justifiable item being the gloves - I needed a pair of black iPhone gloves, since my pink ones don't go with any of my coats.

Green is the new blue

These dark green jeans are my new favorite. They have the versatility of a pair of blue jeans, while still being something new and different.
