Skipped a beat

I finally made the move to my new apartment this week, and needless to say, the blog took a backseat to everything else and the last few nights I've been to exhausted to do little else than sleep. I find myself writing endless to-do lists and everyday I keep thinking of dozens of things I need to go buy for my new apartment life.

Which isn't to say that I also haven't felt guilty for ignoring emails and every other form of social media this week. I'm not sure how long it will be until I'm back in the swing of things, hopefully I will get a lot accomplished this weekend, though I still may need another abbreviated blog week as well.

Floral in Phelps Triangle Park

Edit - The Haven Collective is now Vintanthromodern!

This week I'm collaborating with the New Haven based vintage shop The Haven Collective. I've borrowed some of my favorite pieces and photographed them throughout the city of New Haven. Be sure and check out Monday's and Tuesday's posts as well!

A bright satin floral print dress with a pleated bodice and a layer of crinoline may not be the most versatile of pieces, but it certainly was fun to wear. I dubbed it the "Garden Party Dress" and found my way to the cutest, tiniest park in New Haven, Phelps Triangle Park. Tucked in an intersection of three streets, this unique spot seemed like the perfect location to photograph such a dress.

Don't forget to accessorize

Today I've joined up with Megan to present a mini look book showcasing pieces from Marrin Costello, an LA based jewelry designer.

While Meg certainly isn't a stranger on my blog, this the first time we've done a collaboration like this and I'm really excited to share it with you! Marrin's pieces are delicate, feminine, and edgy. For the first look, I'm styling the gold Saratoga bracelet, an equestrian piece that looks great on it's own, but can easily be layered up (as I so often do). Meg is wearing the gold Helix necklace, which makes a striking contrast against her recently acquired and adorable Jason Wu dress.

For the second look, I have on the Baby Bowser bracelet, gold spike beads pointing every which way are the perfect tough-but-feminine accessory to my asymmetrical LBD. Continuing with the spikes, Meg has the silver clustered Stellar ring, along with the coordinating Midi rings. And yes, I did intentionally match my shoes to Megan's skirt!

A big thanks to Marrin for sharing your fabulous jewelry with us! I hope you all go and check out her site, where all the pieces are made in the USA, and remember, don't forget to accessorize!

Part of the family

Let's talk about hair. It took me a long time to figure mine out; it's thick, it frizzes at the mere suggestion of humidity, it's extremely oily, yet still dry enough to become flaky. I still remember how embarrassed I felt when I first noticed dandruff in my hair when I was in middle school. That was when I started using Head and Shoulders.

Not a lot has changed with my hair since then, but I can't say the same for Head and Shoulders. They now offer a whole line of shampoos and conditioners with amazing scents that do more than just guarantee a flake free scalp. I recently got a chance to try out the Smooth and Silky frizz control duo from their fresh scent technology collection, and in combination with my flat iron and a reasonable humidity level, you can see my hair is looking healthy, full of body, and lacking frizz and flakes.

I might not normally want to talk about dandruff, but it's an issue for so many women that it seems silly to be embarrassed about it, especially since Sophia Vergara has recently partnered with Head and Shoulders and revealed that she and her entire family have been loyal users of the brand for the last 20 years. I'd be lying if I said I'd never lusted after Sophia's amazing hair, and it's nice to know she doesn't just wake up with it - she's got help from Head and Shoulders (and a great stylist, I'm sure).

If you would like a chance to meet Sofia Vergara and be #PartOfOurFamily, now is your chance! The sweepstakes is for a three day trip for you and your bestie to attend a Sofia Vergara Head & Shoulders photo shoot in either LA or NYC. (Get the full details here.)
To enter, simply follow @HeadShoulders on Twitter and post a photo of your gorgeous, flake-free hair, tagging #PartOfOurFamily #sweeps and @HeadShoulders, and be sure to do it by September first!

Ifs, ands, or buts

I must confess, I spend an awful lot of time thinking about shopping.

My mind is constantly thinking about what I want to buy next. Between the steady stream of extraordinarily fashionable bloggers in my feed always making me think "My life is not complete without _____!", ebay saved searches popping up every night with temptations (I should probably turn those off),  the daily onslaught of emails from Gap, J.Crew, Kate Spade and every other online retailer under the sun, combined with my tendencies to want to "just take a quick peek" inside the thrift stores, not buying stuff is no easy task.

Just saying.
