Take it or leaf it

Today my little sister Anna is joining me for outfit photos. The leaf print romper she is wearing is another OASAP piece that I ordered perhaps in a moment of insanity, since I don't like rompers and they look awful on me.

When she expressed some interested in it, I told her it was hers if she agreed to take some outfit photos with me. She is also gunning for my Under Armour sunglasses, but I'm not giving those up so readily.

Ifs, ands, or buts

I must confess, I spend an awful lot of time thinking about shopping.

My mind is constantly thinking about what I want to buy next. Between the steady stream of extraordinarily fashionable bloggers in my feed always making me think "My life is not complete without _____!", ebay saved searches popping up every night with temptations (I should probably turn those off),  the daily onslaught of emails from Gap, J.Crew, Kate Spade and every other online retailer under the sun, combined with my tendencies to want to "just take a quick peek" inside the thrift stores, not buying stuff is no easy task.

Just saying.

I dream about owning a boat. A sailboat, would be my top choice. I'd have to learn how to sail of course, but the issue I'm most concerned about is what I would name it. Should I choose a female name associated with water like, "Amphitrite"? Or perhaps a fun pun like, "Sail la vie"? A name that speaks to the reason I have a boat like, "My Escape"?

I think I'd choose a funny one. Those are always the most amusing to look at.

I'm pretty certain that no matter what the year, every spring and summer, nautically inspired outfits will be trendy. You just can't take a misstep when it comes to deep navy, crisp white and yellow. Or red.
And if you are me, then with some turquoise thrown in for good measure.

Turquoise - Pantone color of the year

I am very excited that turquoise is the color of 2010, as I love turquoise, and already possess a plethora of apparel in this lovely hue.

Since I'm a bit late with this post, and I've already read half a dozen other blog posts with quotes from Pantone's site and some suggestions to turquoisefy your wardrobe, I'm just going to show my appreciation of the color of the year:

The Frye Company Boot

The name Frye elicits a certain feeling of classic American wardrobe staple. A well made leather boot that will wear for years and years and always be in style.

I really want a pair.

But since Frye's average price point is $300, I'm left feeling high and dry. Even on sale the knee high styles nary dip below $100.

So I though I might try ebay. While ebay always has a decent offering of NIB items, I wouldn't be opposed to a 'gently worn' pair if it would get me a pair of Frye boots for under $50.

Unfortunately the general trend of previously worn frye boots end with auction prices from $80 to $200! Am I alone in thinking that is absurd? We are talking about shoes that other people have worn! What makes last season's used Fry Boot worth half it's retail value, when you could buy a new pair of leather boots from Aldo for the same price?

Is it so wrong to think that once worn, the resale value drops to the thrift store price of $15?
Am I really the only person to think that used boots are worth that much?
