The Spring Wardrobe Challenge

Before the pandemic and the stay at home recommendations and my fit of add to cart madness, I was planning on joining Courtney in her spring wardrobe challenge. The rules are simple, no new clothes, wear as much of my existing spring wardrobe as possible, decide what should stay and what is just taking up closet space.

Clearly the no shopping portion of the challenge was pretty significant, and I definitely failed there - however - the important thing to do is just reset and try again, rather than continuing down the path of more shopping. This weekend every time I wanted to make a purchase, I added the piece to a Pinterest board instead. If I'm still obsessing come June 20th (and they are still in stock) then I can buy them.

The second component of the challenge I approached with more gusto, pulling out this Madewell silk wrap top that was purchased December of 2018, and to the best of my recollection, was still yet to be worn; along with this houndstooth print coat, which I've had for over a decade, but hasn't been worn in a few years.

The verdict - I think both pieces can stay. Would you agree?

Now I just need to get out of my lounge wear and put the rest of my spring wardrobe to the test, even if it's for no other reason than to take photos and decide if the pieces should stay or go.

  1. YES! Both pieces stay! They are classics, even though they haven't been worn a ton, but I bet they will get more that you are aware of this!

  2. Yep, I'd say they both stay! A classic jacket like that should always stick around even if you don't wear it all that often. Its something that you'll probably find you want in a few years and buy again...so why not keep the one you already know you like ;)

  3. Definitely hang on to both those pieces - I love the jacket, it's such a statement piece.

  4. I agree both of these are keepers, they are such classic pieces! :) This is a good idea for a challenge too. I think now would be a good time to go through a wardrobe, sadly not for me because kids are always home and I never have spare time, haha! But for most people now is the ideal time to take the opportunity to go through and simplify things :)

Hope that your week is going well :) Another week of working from home here!

  6. That black top is so pretty! It's a keeper for sure. I love the idea of this challenge. I need to clean out my closet anyway, so determining what should stay and what should go is something I need to do.

  7. True classics, both are keepers.
You could wear this now and in ten years and it would still be fabulous.

  8. This wardrobe challenge is a clever one and it comes, it seems, at just the right time. After all, who really needs new clothes with nowhere to go? (Which is not to say I've stopped buying them. I haven't. I just recognise that my purchases aren't really necessary right now.) This is, theoretically, the perfect time to sort through our wardrobes and decide what we don't need anymore. So far, I've tackled a single drawer, but that was still a start. I hope this goes well for you - and that you find more gems like the ones you're wearing in this post!
