Thrift Mates

Whenever I find myself in Westport, I always want to stop at the Goodwill, as it's generally known that the wealthier the town, the more high end goodies are bound to end up getting donated. I probably spend a good hour and a half scouring the racks and filling my arms with anything that peaked my interest.

From the armload, I ended up with three pieces which fit, all of which were skirts. A printed Lilly Pulitzer skirt, a navy Dana Buchman wrap skirt, and this Kate Hill silk floral skirt. I decided I probably wouldn't get much wear from the Lilly and the Dana Buchman was overpriced, so I left with just the Kate Hill for $10.

It wasn't until I put together this look that I found my one and only other item by Kate Hill, which is this silk beaded shell, also thrifted sometime in 2014. I suppose they were just meant to be together!

Hard to believe we are over half way through October, and the warm weather we had when these photos were taken feels like ages ago. The cold settled in quickly, once again skipping over fall and going straight to winter. The lack of seasons is disheartening to say the least.

  6. That is such a cute skirt, what a great thrift find! I really like how well the top pairs with it too! It's great when you separately thrift pieces that still work so well together :) Sadly I don't know many 'wealthy' places nearby with opshops, but there is one in the city that is crammed full of Aussie designers which is a pleasure to browse - they've laid it out as a kinda 'special event' type store with wedding dresses, clutches, cocktail dresses. Haven't found much there but a nice browse!

Hope that you have a lovely weekend ahead of you! We are going to a wedding later today so it will be fun! :)

  7. Those items were definitely meant for each other! What a fun coincidence that you got them years apart while thrifting and they are the same brand! I had my go-to goodwill near our old home so hopefully I can find that 'sweet-spot' Goodwill here too!

  17. Inspired by a number of people I know who thrift very successfully, including you, I've been experimenting more with visiting places like Goodwill and Value Village here at home. So far, I've come away with nothing but used books. But seeing you in a beautiful look like this that is mostly thrifted gives me hope that someday, I will stumbled on some true gems.

If you have seen my last end of the month shopping posts you may have noticed I am now about 70/30 when it comes to thrift shopping, 30 being retail.
