One step forward, two steps back

After having a weekend with a couple opportunities to meet other bloggers and get outfit photos taken, this past weekend was another one of hibernation. I read "What Alice Forgot" cover to cover and aside from celebrating my niece's first birthday, did little else. I really enjoyed the book, hence not wanting to put it down, and I'm at least off to a good start with my resolution to read more. Perhaps I should continue with this author and read "Big Little Lies" before starting with the HBO series.

After the blogger brunch which was hosted by The North House in Avon, most of the fashion bloggers at the event clamoured to get some shots in this gorgeous window lined hallway (which I did too, naturally) but I'd had my sights set on the cute entryway outside - always a sucker for a staircase. Thankfully Nonee was able to hangout for a bit, after we took photos we stopped for coffee at Dom's Coffee just down the road. Such an adorable place, and a good latté too!

It was warm enough for rain, so I took advantage of the 'high' temps and finally wore my new satin blazer. I have always had such a soft spot for blazers, even if I don't wear them that much. I can't resist, they always make me feel put together. I think this blazer has sadly sold out, but if you like the boyfriend fit, there is one in a classic navy. If colorful satin is more you, gap has a couple of cute bombers, one even has a frenchie embroidered on it.

  1. I remember this blazer catching my eye when you first bought it, but I can't believe how much more I love it now that I see you wearing it. It is far from my colour, as of course you know, but that shade couldn't be lovelier on you and it suits the location so well, too - I could almost be convinced it was starting to look like spring in Connecticut, although of course I know the truth ;)

  16. Your blazer looks amazing and the color is such a lovely shade! It looks great on you. That sounds like fun! Someday I am hoping to meet some blogger buddies to do something fun like this. Oh that's nice! I was trying to start reading What Alice Forgot but I was in the midst of trying to launch my blog and figure out which button did what that I eventually never got to it. I am hoping to read it soon as I heard very good reviews about it. I hope all is well on your end.

  18. Oh that's a beautiful blazer on you! I love that rust colour, it's so perfect and it looks really nice with the jeans too.

I'm glad you could squeeze in some photos at the end of the day, and that you had a relaxing weekend. Sometimes we just need to rest and clear our schedules for a bit to recharge. Happy birthday to your niece too! :)

Hope you're having a good week so far. I'm busy, but not as much as last week, so that's nice! :)

  20. That satin blazer is superb. For some reason I just imagined it on a red carpet worn with black tuxedo pants, shirt and tie.
