Flirting with Confidence

Space stealers. My closet has them, and I imagine yours does too. I convinced myself I needed them, yet time and again, I pass up wearing them. I've decided I need to start making more of an effort to weed them out.

I know when I bought this top I loved it, though I was probably making some ridiculous rational that if I just found the right bra, it would look the same on me as it did on the flat-chested model. The reality is, it does not, and while it would likely take all day for me to list out my insecurities, drawing attention to my chest is near the top.

As such, almost every time I put on this top I take it off again. However, I scraped up enough confidence one day to wear the top out, because I need to decide, am I going to be the confident person who can wear it, or is going on Poshmark?

  1. Struggle to dress a not flat chest is all too real and one I understand painfully well. But, with that said, I recently pulled a space stealer out of my closet and wore it after almost five years of telling myself I should keep it around, just in case, all the while never putting it on. Sometimes, things do come around again and have their moment. And although I know that how we look and how we feel about how we look are two totally different things, I can say from an outside perspective that this top looks lovely on you. I love how the blue pairs with your olive green shorts and rattan bag (which, by the way, I broke down and bought myself. Couldn't resist.) Confidence is really just a very long game of make believe, I think - if we believe we can, then we will. And that includes wearing clothes outside our comfort zone :)

  2. I love that term space stealer!! And although I see what you are saying with this shirt, it's certainly not inappropriate. But if you're not comfortable in it, then it's no fun wearing it!

  3. The problems I often have dressing my fuller chest are almost too numerous to recite - the struggle is all too real! And I personally think that top looks really lovely on you!

  4. I am so bad about doing this in my closet too! And I love the blue and olive together in this outfit.

  5. I am glad you ended up wearing it because I think it is very flattering on you and makes your waist look so tiny! As someone more flat chested I often don't buy tops like that because I can't fill them out!

  6. This sounds like me and only us can understand this.
I think the top is beautiful and that it looks good however I can also understand that with garments its how you feel in them.
For example, if I feel an item attracts too many eyes i will reconsider it, specially when it comes to tops.

  7. I love it paired with those shorts! Definitely makes it more casual.
And yea...if you aren't into drawing attention to your chest this might be a poshmark piece ;) I'n the same way, don't usually like drawing attention to that area, hah.

  8. What a great term, space stealers! I think this top looks great on you and I really like this color combo! It really flatters your shape and accentuates your waist.
However, if you don't feel comfortable in it, it should go to Poshmark and make room for something you feel great in!
