Lessons learned

This was a perfectly lovely weeknight. Sean was home, I'd made a big pot of sauce the day before so dinner prep was little more than boiling pasta, and I suggested we walk, rather than drive to the usual photo spot.

We ended up going all the way into the center of town, down to the marina and back again. We snapped these photos as the sun prepared to set, returned home, ate dinner, and watched Seinfeld on Hulu.

It wasn't until the following day that I noticed the repercussions of our long walk with my new white bag. The denim had stained the handles of the bag blue. You can see it most noticeably in the third photo.

I felt horrible all day, came home from work with a headache and went to be early. The following morning I went to look at the purse to again assess the damage. I looked at one handle, no stains. I turned the bag around and was shocked to see there were no stains there either. I looked at Sean, who smiled and told me he'd cleaned it up while I was sleeping, because he knew how upset I was over it. Completely made my day.

In the future, I will not be carrying this bag with dark jeans again, lesson learned.

  2. Oh, the curse of dark denim and lovely white things. I went through a similar experience with a pair of jeans and, somewhat fittingly since you're wearing them in this post, my Chuck Taylors. They haven't really recovered, but I eventually got over the devastation. How lucky that Sean was able to clean up your bag and that the denim stains aren't permanent! A lovely weekend shouldn't be allowed to be ruined by something so avoidable - and yet something that every single fashion lover experiences time and time again :P

  5. That is the sweetest thing ever!!! What a great guy. I am going to have to show Patrick because I told him that all I wanted for Mother's Day was a crisp (I really used the word crisp) white bag and even showed him pictures of what I was thinking. Turns out he thrifted one for me because he thought that would be something I would be proud of him for doing. I could see the sweet thought . . . but as it was thrifted it was all dirty. And I pointed out to him that thanks, but . . . maybe you should clean it off first. sigh.

  7. You have such a sweet boyfriend. I hate it when denim transfers on things. I like the baseball hat with curly hair.
