Walk on the reasonably tame side

I don't generally push any style boundaries when it comes to these leopard pants. Neutrals, simple shoes, simple accessories. I know most of us subscribe to the logic that "leopard is a neutral" but to me, these pants are anything but.

I have been slowly but surely working to replace all my solid cotton/poly button down shirts with silk versions. Most of them I've managed to get second hand, this past winter I scored a black Joe Fresh for JCP blouse for $10, but white was the one color which had been eluding me. I finally got lucky at J.Crew Factory and was able to take advantage of half off clearance taking this one home for $25. That was a couple months ago, this is surprisingly the first time I'm wearing it.

Admittedly silk can be a bit of a pain to care for (never once did I have to iron those poly blends!) but I'm convinced that quality fabrics look better, feel better, last longer, and give me just a bit more sophistication. I need that in my life.

  1. Sometimes it's fun to step out of our fashion comfort zones! I do think leopard is a neutral though and it looks very sophisticated paired with the silk blouse.

  4. Although it's your first time wearing the blouse, I'm sure it will get its fair share of wears when it's all said and done. Such a sophisticated staple. And I love the trousers! I think leopard is a neutral for sure, but you can't go wrong with white pairings.

  5. Bahahaha, I love the honesty of your title. Reasonably tame sounds safe but also slightly dangerous. Just enough, yeah? :) You never fail to style these leopard pants in the most appropriate of ways. I remember when you first bought those~!

  6. I was actually thinking recently that I needed to replace some of my poly-blend shirts. I have a few that I love, but they are already worse for wear. I love that you have slowly done it over time - so smart!

  14. These pants are amazing! And they are interesting enough to just pair with neutrals and still have a really wild (in a good way!) look!

  15. That's a good idea--that silk does look fabulous. I'm trying to do more quantity over quality in my wardrobe, but I cave so easily when it comes to bargains!

  16. COuld be the new shirt or maybe the leopard print - or the fact that you mention it - but you do look sophisticated!
I have all kinds of material in my closet. Lately I look more for cotton. It breathes better and also its light - which suits my crazy humid weather.

  19. Love this outfit! I've started buying silk tops as well, but I don't wear them very often because I'm afraid of getting them dirty, lol.

  20. I've been doing the same thing - trying to replace my polyester button downs with silk versions! I just love the feel of silk. And that blouse looks like it was made for these pants. It looks great!

  22. I love these pants on you! I have tried to make a better effort in not buying poly blend shirts especially since they are so uncomfortable during the summer months.

    Have a great weekend!

  23. I have a pair of pants almost identical to those and always wear them with white and black, anything other than that I feel too loud. I agree, every now and then I will find a silk top at the thrift store and it's so luxurious!

  24. Love these pants!! They are just perfect! And I'm obsessed with silk blouses, my husband keeps saying "don't you already have one like that?" I can't get enough of them!

  28. Last year I started doing the same thing, phasing out some of my poly-blends for nice silk blouses, and they're so much better. But the wrinkle factor is an unfortunate drawback! Especially now that I have a long commute, I find myself reaching for the polys again so I don't look like a rumpled mess!

  29. This is an awesome outfit- I definitely love the blouse. I need to get a steamer in the worst way for my silk things!

  31. I don't remember anyone styling leopard prints in such a clean way. I love the look. And I can't believe you got silk shirts for so cheap. Why is there no market for 2nd hand stuff in India!

  35. There is just something about silk, isn't there? It is so much more work to care for but it's absolutely worth it as far as I'm concerned. This blouse is gorgeous - you can practically see how beautiful the silk is in the photos. And as for leopard being a neutral, while I do think it is, that doesn't mean I suddenly want to pair it with coral and turquoise all at once. Simple and elegant is always best, and you've done that beautifully with this look.

  36. Your title made me chuckle!! They look good, and I never shy away from silk, I just chuck them all in the machine on a delicate cycle. Very elegant x
