Newish scarf

I decided that I wanted a leopard infinity scarf, but as the owner of three leopard scarfs, I forbade myself from going out and buying a forth. Instead I simply sewed the ends of this one together and voilá, infinity scarf. Should I decide I'm tried of it, my regular old scarf is only a few snips away.

P.S. What the heck did blogger do to the word verification? As if one unreadable word wasn't bad enough, now there are two?

I don't want to get all over the top dramatic here, but how am I supposed to comment on blogs when it takes me three tries to prove I'm not a robot?

If you currently have word verification on, why not consider taking it off? For my sake? Blogger has spam detection, it does work, I swear.

  1. ewwww, I hate robot spam boxes. Sometimes I give up on my comment if I can't get it right. I like on Wendy Brandes' blog how she chose the words and you have to type in things like peony or lady gaga. On the plus side, great idea with the scarf, I am such a fan of infinities, I wonder if I have a good one for that. Does this scarf have fringe on the ends?

  2. That is some creative re-purposing with that scarf!

Yeah, word verification is kind of annoying. I'm not even sure if I have it on my blog - I should probably check, and then get rid of it if I do have it :)

  8. Amen! It does work! I have Disqus installed, but Blogger always beats it to recognising spam before the comment even reaches Disqus. :)

    Great idea with the scarf!

  17. Love the 'new' scarf. That's such a simple solution that I usually forget exists.
Also I was pretty irritated about the new Captcha too. But did you read about how they are using it to help translate old scanned documents? I thought that was pretty cool. (Click the little ? next time you have to type one.)
I still think most bloggers should just turn it off though.

  19. I did the same thing with one of my scarves. It is an easy DIY, and will be easy to undo if I get tired of circle scarves.

  20. your newish scarf looks great. You are one clever bunny. Couldnt agree more about the whole word verification thing. Seriously if you are concerned with spammers then just approve your comments before they are published.

  27. What a fantastic idea about the scarf! And agree about the word verification...it pisses me off so bad I literally just tweeted about it lol

  28. OMG I know. Commenting today has been so difficult. I got one that was like, "colonial $2000." WTF? I agree...everyone, please, PLEASE turn it off. We're going crazy.

You're so talented, sewing the scarves together. It was probably super easy, but it sounds like a daunting task to this girl.

  29. I agree 100% on the word verification bit! I hate that!!
    Love your scarf too btw

  30. I hate the new verification, I actually skipped commenting on some blogs today because I couldn't get one of the two words right {UGH!}...On a happier note, love the scarf and what a great idea to sew it yourself!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Oh, I'm so glad to know that I'm not the only one being driven insane by the new word verification on blogger! I'm bad at reading those words at the best of times, but when they put an ink blot on top of it, it's hopeless. Seriously. Sigh.

Brilliant job with your infinity scarf, by the way - I never would have thought to just sew the ends of another scarf together, but it worked beautifull here. So envious of the sunny weather in these photos, too!

  32. You look so lovely in these photos :) And your HAIR! WHAT?! So long and gorgeous. Makes me wish I hadn't cut mine. Love your scarf idea..I should try that out for myself!

  33. And here I thought it was just me with the CAPTCHA. I hate it to begin with, and now the chances of me commenting on blogs with it are about 1%, even if I love and regularly follow the blog. It is just too damn annoying. I just can't keep typing words over and over. Just can't. I might actually put this into a post and tell people I won't comment any more because of it.

I haven't seen these boots on you in forever! How are they treating your toes? Smart idea to sew the scarf together. I want a chiffon leopard scarf so much, but they're all so expensive. I may just go to the fabric store :)

  34. What a great idea of converting your scarf into an infinity scarf! It looks fantastic in this outfit. You are so crafty :)

  39. I love the scarf! I actually thought about making an infinity scarf - from a vintage sweater I shrunk : ( But I haven't quite figured out how I'd "serge" the ends after snipping it. I love the print so I'd hate just to get rid of it.

    2. I JUST tweeted about their stupid captchas!!! So horrible and annoying, it just changed today or yesterday it seems. blargh!! I don't know why people don't get rid of them, makes it so hard and impossible to leave a comment.
