Happy Halloween!

I hope everyone is out having a fun Halloween. I'm just staying in, typing this on the couch and getting interrupted every few minutes by Trick-or-Treaters.

Chloe, the little devil

Chloe is a huge fan of Halloween, in the respect that she gets to bark at kids all night long. Not so much with my dressing her up. But she's just too darn cute in the little devil costume I've made her; so I make her suffer for a few hours once a year.

I must admit I'm excited for tomorrow in that I get to shop again. And I can think of a dozen ways in which I might spend all of my budget in one fell swoop. Specifically in the realm of shoes and boots... like oxfords, or leopard print pumps, or knee high cognac boots...

Or maybe this fur collar I saw in the thrift store. Assuming it's even still there; it was $15 and very much real fur. Which is where I'm conflicted. I just don't know how I feel about real fur, vintage or otherwise.
And then there is the idea that perhaps I don't need to add any more fur to my closet. I've got two coats, the vest, and the coat with the fur collar.

Happy Halloween

Do you ever find yourself going through accessory phases? When I got these knee high socks last year, I think I only wore them once.
But now I've worn them twice in a week. I might wear them again soon.

Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween

Today I made truffle mice, I got the recipe from a blog called Flowers and Weeds.

I started making baby mice because my sister said "The fatter the mice are, the fatter you are."

The Black Plague

Almost too cute to eat -- but too good not to!

Happy Halloween!

  1. Hahaha-- "The fatter the mice are, the fatter you are." That's so nice of your sister. Those look so very delicious, though, and Chloe is looking mighty adorable! My dog would eat his costume in an instant. How your dog doesn't eat hers is amazing. :)

I love those socks with sandals! Such a cute outfit. I like those earrings, too, and how you twisted your belt. I like it all.

I've actually been in an accessory phase myself, and find myself wanting more jewelry, socks, belts, and scarves rather than clothes! And there's a big spider on my wall. And I see it. And I think it's going to eat me. So I must end this rambling short so I can run away from it. FAREWELL, MISS LYDDIE. <3

  5. Oh my gosh - that devils costume is adorable! I was thinking about making a bee costume for my cat, but knew she would flip out if I put it on her! I don't think cats are made for costumes ;)

  10. LOVE your outfit, gorgeous pattern and fab sweater! The mice are precious-
I don't do real fur period, even vintage. And I have been tempted, but I think it sends a message I agree with fur so I even donated an inherited piece to the humane society. They really accept them! I do love faux.
    Happy Halloween.

  13. What cute mice! Haha, at least sisters are honest about their intentions, unlike some friends who won't say a thing as you indulge in too many Halloween treats but are secretly rejoicing; "the more you eat, the thicker your waistline".
I like the combination of the sandals (so gorgeous!) and light knee socks.
    Great photos as usual.

  16. OMG! The baby mice are soo cute, and they look delicious (...which is kind of creepy, but it's Halloween, so it makes sense).

I loved your last post - you totally did the impossible! It is so difficult to remix those one-time formal dresses ever again, but you did an amazing job. Such a great way to recycle and appreciate the things you have.
