Game face

While I have no sport team allegiances, I don't mind the party aspect of the Super Bowl, so I decided to don some colors that I'm fairly certain belong to both teams and headed off to my gathering.

I did not even attempt to go out to Target and get my hands on any of the Jason Wu goods... my opinion of the diffusion lines remains the same: You are paying more for a name than for the actual quality of the piece, but if I can score something on clearance in a few weeks then I will be all for it.

For those of you who did brave the crowds, did you score big?

  1. Yep, I avoided Target today, too. There were some cute dresses in the line that I would like to own, but not enough to pay $60 for.

Love that brooch on your blazer!

  2. Jason who? Whoops, obviously didn't hear about that. I'll be going to target later this week so I suppose I can see the remains of it then!

This is so cute. You look like a nautical student at an exciting and fashionable seafaring academy. The gold against red and navy is so shaaaarp! Sharp like a shark. You shark! That's a compliment, btw. :)

  3. Some of my friends went this morning, and they grabbed a cat print scarf for me. The pieces they got seemed to be of decent quality, especially compared to some of the other Target designer collections.

  4. I feel the same way about rushing out for a brand--especially after hearing/seeing all that hullabaloo for Missoni not long ago. Eh, I can wait. I love your team neutral look. Very much digging the heels too!

  16. this is very cute! The blazer really brings it all together IMO.

I want to try red pants but need to get some courage- I'm afraid they will draw a lot of attention, and they really have to fit well to not call too much attention to my hips.

  17. I went at noon, but I don't exactly live in a fashion hotspot, so my friend and I were two of the only three people who were there for the Wu. There were two dresses that I would have been willing to pay retail for, and luckily they had one in my size (the navy poplin dress). The quality on this diffusion line is better than most of their others, IMO - the tees are soft and even the poly dresses are reasonable. I do have one or two pieces from other lines, and they are definitely lower quality - the Temperley I have is virtually see through. This one, though, is quite nice. You can probably still wait for sale prices if you're not a huge Wu fan :)

  18. Love the outfit! And you know, I accidentally wore red and blue yesterday, how funny is that?!
I got 2 dresses, a shirt, a tee and a scarf....may return a dress and the tee...I would return the shirt but I need more dressy tops anyway ;)

  19. You look gorgeous and very ladylike in this outfit. I didn't even bother with team colors of any sort and opted to wear mint green to our gathering.

  21. I am a crazy diffusion-line fan (I can't explain it but I've been with Target since the very first Go line back in 2006 or 07) so got there early to wait in line. Everyone was polite and not too crazy so I tried a lot of stuff on but only bought the one striped tee-shirt dress I had my eye on. The stuff was better made and more comfortable that I thought it would be.

  24. I decided to stay up late Saturday night and give a shot at some online Jason Wu purchasing. The website held up ok, but they wouldn't announce when they were going to be posting the collection online. I was planning to hold out for the white dress with the black belt, but I wasn't confident of the fit and decided to go the handbag route. I ordered the blue floral handbag around 1:30am est when they posted it (the bulk of the collection went up around 3:30am est, but they put a few pieces up early). It ships today, so I'm glad I didn't brave the crowds in the store. Now I just hope the handbag looks as cute in person as it did online!

  25. I've avoided all the other capsule collections but I was genuinely really captivated with the Jason Wu line months ago and was interested in several pieces not just for the name but because I genuinely loved the items. So I stayed up late and managed to get them all online. No muss, no fuss and all achieved while sipping a glass if wine. If they don't fit/I judge the quality to be poor then I'll return in store and just get my money back. As far as I can see, it's a no lose situation!

  29. you are looking very prep girl sailor chic, I dig it :) I did hope on over to Target and picked up a couple pieces but I passed on two blouse because I felt like I could get something similar at F21 for a lot cheaper.

  30. I love this blazer, but I think you know that already. This jewelry is pretty serious, too. All great choices, and now I'm wishing for gold chain bracelets (I only have bangles).

  31. I couldn't make the Jason Wu extravaganza, but I think my sister picked up a gift or two. The golden accents in this outfit is very classic and I love it!

  33. I thought the Jason Wu collection was adorable but I didn't go to Target to get anything.
    I love your shoes.

  34. Love the crest pin, so preppy chic!
I agree people at Target are paying for the name at this time, as for me, I would rather just shop around until there is a sale.

  35. There was one navy blue dress in the Target collection that was calling my name. I was thinking of stopping by after work to day and see what it was like. But the town I live in is relatively small and people generally don't really care about this type of stuff, so I'll probably score some sweet deals in a couple weeks. :)

  36. Initially when I saw all those Jason Wu outfit pics, I thought I was in love with so many pieces. But the more I looked and thought about the pieces, I ended up not even trying. Granted, I think this is one of the better and more wearable collaborations Target has had, but nothing just spoke to me. Oh well, can they bring back some older dresses again?!

  37. Those accessories totally rock! Sigh I wasn't able to buy Jason Wu online (only sold in stores for the items I wanted so whatever!)

  39. This is one of my favorite outfits on you! It's classic and so chic!

I didn't really think there was anything in this target collection that i "had to have" so I passed this time. I'd much rather buy the real thing on sale that pay for overpriced lower quality!

  40. Totally cute outfit...good job incorporating both team's colors!!

  43. I briefly thought about heading out to Target yesterday, but to be honest after the whole Missoni debacle, diffusion lines have been ruined for me. Did you hear about that couple in Miami who bought EVERYTHING?

Love this outfit! Very team neutral :)

  44. I have no doubt that you were the chicest (is that a word?) person at your superbowl party! I especially love that blazer! And no, I din't brave the Jason Wu crowds either...I might check it out when I get a chance.

  47. Probably my favorite outfit you've ever done. DANGGGGGG GURL.

And, yes, real talk, I flipped out over the Jason Wu line. He said he made it with a feminine, 1960's girl in mind, which HELLO has my name all over it. Combine that with nautical details and lots of red/black, and, well, I spent a LOT of money.

Hopefully when everything gets here, I love it just as much. What I have from the stores is actually super cute. EEK.

  50. Love that blazer and red jeans together. Such a distinguished look! I think you saw my post. I got 4 pieces and just acquired a 5th one. The quality was better in person. I posted this girl's video that actually modeled some of her purchases. They were cute.

I did want to check out Wu's target line but I honestly wasn't interested in losing any sleep over it and didn't get around to it later in the day. Oh well, like you maybe I'll score some cool pieces on clearance later.
