Ikat believe it

In the two years I've had this skirt I've managed to pair it with cream, blush, and chambray. Way to think outside the box, right? But I'm afraid too much color will make it look gaudy, and a darker neutral will detract from it's summery air. Any thoughts on future pairings?

Those who wait

Are those who hesitate lost, or do good things come to those who wait?

I always fall squarely in the waiting category, which does mean that sometimes I miss out on things, but more often than not, I find my patience is rewarded.

Such was the case with these jeweled espadrille sandals, first spotted on Jessica's blog back in March. With a list price of $110, I knew I would have to hold out for a sale. When Piperlime was going out at the end of May, they could have been had for 40% off, but again I hesitated, since they would be final sale I would have to take a gamble with the fit.

I then found them on Amazon, still at list price, but added them to my watch list. Eventually the price slowly crept down. When they got to 40% I was ready to make my purchase with the sound knowledge that I could always return them for free.

The day after I purchased them the price plunged even lower, to 50% off, but thankfully Amazon offers price adjustments within 10 days of your delivery (store credit only), so they became mine for $54.

Fitting comfortably and true to size, I would definitely recommend them!

Ikat and Chambray

I've finally broken out of my cream only styling rut with this orange ikat skirt. I think it's mostly because I saw someone on Pinterest wearing it with chambray and the little lightbulb went on. Now I have two other chambray shirts, but after that, who knows what I will pair with this skirt...

A little bit of gold

Lately I have found myself drawn more to delicate pieces over statement pieces. Perhaps it is due to the heat and a desire to be dressing lighter, or perhaps the heyday of the statement necklace has passed? While I haven't checked with People Style Watch, the seeming authority of what is in and what is out, as far as I'm concerned, hammered gold metal should definitely be in.

I shared a couple new pieces I received from Belcho on instagram earlier this week, and could not be more smitten. Both are handmade in the USA of recycled metal and plated in 14k gold. The evil eye necklace has a tiny CZ eye, and while it looks great on it's own, it's just begging to be layered with other necklaces. The cuff is light weight and yields to pressure, so it can be adjusted slightly for the best fit.

The designer behind Belcho, Marie K. is a self taught artist, following her dream to create her own jewelry. The pieces are handmade in her L.A. studio, where she not only strives to bring beauty to the wearer, but also to help improve the world around her; a portion of every sale is donated to children's and animal rescue charities. Ikat

I really like the mix of textures with this outfit. The embossed pattern of the skirt with the sequins and woven leather adds so much visual interest. Which is good, because I am once again, styling this skirt with all neutrals, and I wouldn't want you to think I was stuck on how else to style it or anything like that.

Good hair day

This summer the humidity has been pretty relentless. Most mornings I'll spend half an hour straitening my hair only for it to be a frizzed out mess by the time I arrive at work.

This was one of those few blessed days when the humidity was down at something reasonable like 65%, and it was wonderful.
