Outfit for Nowhere

This weekend I took outfit photos for the first time in two weeks. It seemed silly, getting dressed for the sole purpose of snapping some photos then immediately heading back home, being sure not to interact with anyone. It was a brief bit of sun, a break from the deluge of rain, the only time I spent outside the house in four days.

It took me three hours to decide to put on jeans and a sweater. Everything else I tried just felt too contrived, I don't normally hang around the house in a dress and heels; though as much as I'd love to photograph my new dress, I don't want to just play dress-up, I want to wear it for real.

After half my closet was deposited on my bed in a desperate attempt to put together an outfit I would hang around the house in that didn't include jeans, I acquiesced to the denim, and less than an hour later I was back in my pajamas, letting the hours blur together once again.

Creating content in this quarantine is going to be a challenge, and I'm still working on figuring out what feels right to post.

  1. That knit looks so cosy! :) I've been struggling too, my blog is my record of what I've worn but I won't put PJs or loungewear on there and I've been wearing a lot of that recently, haha! I have tried to dress up on occasions that don't really require it instead - I have walked the dogs in loungewear before but I decided to actually put on a proper outfit, even if I was only out the house for 30 mins, haha!

Now that schools are closed I only see going out once a week for groceries so I won't have enough outfits to blog with, but I have a backlog so I will see how I feel once I'm nearing the end of the backlog!

Hope that you had a great weekend! :) We had a quiet one at home of course!

  2. It is strange to try to photograph outfits right now. I had a number of collaborations still ongoing at the beginning of March, and focussing on finding new ways to photograph them while more or less staying in our apartment was a unique and novel challenge. For a while. The novelty wore of quickly, which will come as no surprise, and now I'm spending my time almost exclusively in loungewear or workout wear. And I think that's okay, too. In the first two weeks of quarantine, I allowed myself to have all the fun - I ate my quarantine snacks, drank through most of my quarantine wine and now I'm feeling relatively ready to figure out what normal looks like while this continues because, at least for me, it's not a vacation - work goes on and so I have to go on, too, trying to stay as normal and sane as I can.

  3. Generating content is definitely a challenge. I'm still dressing daily for work but I'm not bothering with things that are too complex and I've given up on accessories and doing anything much makeup and hair wise. And, as soon as I wrap up my Zoom meetings for the day (which mostly seem to be happening in the morning), I'm immediately in sweats or my pjs.

  4. Such a great cozy outfit!
Sadly I don't think I'll be blogging outfit photos for a while unless I get out my tripod. Christian will not want to go anywhere to take photos. I haven't left the house since last Saturday (and that was just a quick trip to the garden store and I mostly stayed in the car so we could keep up with social distancing.) I haven't even sat outside in our yard.

  5. I'm 100$ struggling on what to create during this time too! I want to be sensitive to what is going on, but I also know I have to do what will help me mentally. But one thing I learned about uncertainty is we have to do what's best for us. I always enjoy your outfit posts! And definitely love this one!

  6. Fabulous mules and sweater.
I am posting outfits from last month, my last two weeks have been in pjs and sweats.
I do not know what to tell you other than the time I spend in front of the computer looking at blogs is one of the few things that we can still do, so its part of the life I use to have.
