Thus, I try to make the best of it, I let myself suffer a little in the cold pairing a sweater dress with over the knee boots - sure I could put on a pair of tights, but I convinced myself the hem of the coat was just long enough that I didn't need them.
This outfit is the first appearance of a few new things, the wrap coat which I purchased immediately after seeing it (or something very similar) on my sister-in-law, and the brown over the knee boots which took four purchases and subsequent returns as well as a price adjustment before I was happy with the size, color, and price. I initially got them from DSW on Black Friday, tried three different sizes, and ultimately got them from Aerosoles.com which had the best sale price, and then got it adjusted when they went to an extra 60% off - it ended up being a $40 difference from the original DSW price I paid, so I feel like it was worth all the effort. As for my previous brown-ish suede boots, they found a new home in my sister's closet.

Those boots are lovely on you and even if your outfit was a little cold without the tights you look so cosy! :) Hope it isn't too cold in February for you - I find my outfits get a bit repetitive near the end of summer too, it's not just the end of winter I feel that boredom creeping in! Always good to have a change of weather and more outfit options to look forward to! :)
ReplyDeleteHope that your week is going well! It's a busy one here! :)

The boots are great - and I'm glad you found the pair that was just right for you. Too often I get impatient with things like that and just wind up settling for something that's not quite right and then feeling not satisfied. I also really enjoy your wrap coat - it looks wonderful on you!

I am right there with you. As soon as January comes, I am exhausted by trying to come up with new iterations of the jeans + sweater + boots ensemble that the weather demands. That said, I haven't broken down and tried gong out with bare legs and tall boots just yet, but I'm sure I'll get there. The combination of snow, road salt and sand here tends to ruin all shoes, which is honestly the main reason for that ;) Even biweekly boot spray isn't always enough to save them. But it's still on January, so I'm sure I'll get to where you are soon enough. And probably wear a similar look, since you've reminded me of the camel sweater dress hanging in my closet, unworn since last March :)

ReplyDeleteSuch a cute outfit for winter! I really love those boots, I've been looking for some over the knee boots for ages now, I think I'd get a lot of wear out of them xo

It's so easy for me to fall into a winter slump because I hate the cold and much rather be worn. May have to try the sweater dress and tall boot look! xoxo, Sarah
ReplyDeleteI know it is true, dressing in the winter does get tiresome over time. but I guess this is the case too for summer. This is a great wrap coat and looks excellent with the dress and boots.
