Unautumnal

I was about to throw on my red Ferragamos when my sister informed me that I was veering far too patriotic for anything post Labor Day. True, I could have taken a different approach to styling the navy sweatshirt, but I felt like I'd been waiting all summer for the humidity to die down enough that I could finally wear it, and I wasn't about to bend on the white denim.

As much as I want the weather to bend to my sartorial whims, it's often a suffering I choose for myself, when I wear suede sandals in a downpour, cropped pants and flats with no socks while temps hover around freezing, or skinny jeans on a blazing hot summer day.

Fortunately when I arrived in the small town center of Niantic, CT I found that I coordinated just perfectly with their autumnal displays.

  1. Sometimes you just have to go patriotic in Autumn! Ha ha. The sweatshirt looks so cozy! Would be perfect for jetting out on a boat in Summer (not that we ever do that, haha!)

  3. That sweater is too cute! I think deep red would actually be fine and not look too patriotic ;-)

  4. This is such a great look - and I bet the red shoes would have been pretty perfect with it as well.

  5. I love the navy and white together and this is a cute casual outfit! I think the red flats would have looked nice with this but the brown flats are great! I have a pair of red shoes and it's so hard I never seem to have the "right" outfit to wear them with, it's easier with neutral shoes, they get worn more!

Hope that you have a lovely weekend ahead of you!

  6. I love how red looks with navy, but worry about looking too patriotic as well! Those neutral flats look perfect though!

  7. I won't lie - I totally understand the impulse to wear red shoes with this outfit. In France, you'd be teased for dressing like Francois le Francais, and yes, it does seem a bit patroitic after the Fourth of July (or Bastille Day, for that matter) but the colours just work so well together. Navy and white denim are a perfect sartorial combination, in my mind, and I love how this look turned out - red flats or no red flats ;)
