Revisiting Old Pieces

I've always loved shopping, and I would be lying if I didn't say I sometimes considered the blog as an excuse to buy something new. I would also like to say that my efforts to be good this year and not shop were going well, however this month I found myself in more than one slip up.

When I was doing my closet clean out, I noticed several neglected pieces that I wasn't ready to part with, but still decided I need to try and bring back into rotation. The first was this peplum top. I purchased it in 2016 while I was in California and wore it to dinner once while I was there, and didn't take outfit photos. I wore it again over the summer, and then it sat. Regardless of rational, two and a half years seems like a long time to hold on to a piece that isn't being worn. It isn't the only article taking a backseat to new items coming in.

This Linea Pelle bag was once the pride and joy of my bag collection. It was purchased back in 2013 and was on heavy rotation for about two years before new bags came in and usurped its status. The CC Skye pyramid stud bracelet was once a favorite to pair with it, so I decided to reunite them. I stopped wearing the bracelet after the clasp came undone on a couple occasions and I almost lost it forever.

The shoes I should be most embarrassed about - one wear in one year! Now up to three as of this post, but still, these adorable heels in a neutral shade didn't do anything wrong, why so much neglect?

As much as I crave filling my closet with new things, I really need to step back, focus on what I have, and find new love for old pieces. (Not sure how long this mentality will last, this dress is calling my name!)

  2. I know what you mean, I have so many pieces getting neglected in my closet but it's hard to let them go because I might want to wear them again! A vicious circle, haha

  3. I love all these pieces - I personally always enjoy finding pieces I haven't worn in a while in my closet and getting to try them out again, but of course it's less fun when you have a lot pieces like that and then keeping it all organized gets stressful.

  4. You've done a great job shopping your closet and remixing these pieces! Personally I've made more of an effort to rewear items ever more, as much as I love shopping all the time it can be tiring and expensive.

  10. You're so right! I think we as bloggers get too caught up in NEW and forget about our old, treasured pieces. LOVE your bag you re-discovered!

  11. This is such a cute outfit! :) I like to think I rewear pieces more than I buy things but I'm often stumbling across pieces in my wardrobe that haven't been worn for a while!

I think the problem is that I have too much stuff but I can never resist cute things on sale, haha!

Hope that your week has been going well and you have a great Easter weekend ahead :)

  13. I'm guilty of getting caught up in the newness of items that I neglect the pieces that I loved and treasured just as much -- if not more -- than the newest item in my closet. Taking a step back from the blog over the couple of months helped me refocus and make sure I was making purchases because I actually loved them and not because I wanted something fresh to talk about.

  14. I love that you're showcasing some loved, yet somewhat forgotten, items. I think they are all still really stylish and relevant too! That peplum top is such a pretty print, and the pumps are classics!

  15. I love seeing your Linea Pelle bag make an appearance - it brings back memories of so many of your outfits for me. I actually remember when you bought it, and how much you loved wear it. Of course, it's natural that new things come into our wardrobes and our tastes evolve, but there is something really satisfying about looking into your own closet and finding a piece that you still love but haven't worn for a while. It happened for me with my APC bag last fall - after carrying it all over Europe in 2017, I tucked it in the back of my closet and promptly forgot about it. When I found it in my clean-up, I was thrilled to see it again, and it's been in regular rotation ever since. I hope your Linea Pelle bag will get to be in regular rotation again, too :)

  17. Love that peplum top on you! It's always nice to rediscover pieces again and shop your closet. I, however, need to do some major spring cleaning.. my closet is a mess!

  18. You are so right, it is SO important to not forget about what we already have in our closet and to think how we can reuse items in a new way making them feel brand new!

  19. I remember you wearing all of these except for the shoes and top - I make a huge effort not to neglect items but it's almost impossible. We own so much that its difficult to always wear older items even more with new items coming in... So the most reasonable thing is to wear them again and decide if you want to keep it or not.
