April Budget

There really shouldn't have been a budget post this month, but I did end up doing a bit more shopping than I'd intended. I did include pieces that I got as birthday gifts, so it's not quite as bad as it looks, maybe?

I would say the worst is that rather than planning on resuming my shopping ban, I'm plotting purchases for next month, and admittedly already have a couple in the mail. Every time I try to do an extended shopping ban it seems to backfire on me, with the sudden urge to buy everything in sight. I need to work on a new approach.

  1. I know, it is so hard to not shop and then once you buy one thing after not doing it in a while it just kind of gets out of hand. Like when I bought 3 blazers at once ;) But I'm back on the good track so we'll see how long I can keep it up. Tempted to get a pair of Everlane's Summer jeans but I should resist....
So many great pieces here though! Especially the bag you've wanted!

  2. I am wondering what you new approach will be.
Maybe a max amount of items or a max amount of money per month?
All I can say is my fave item here is the vintage bag with the NYC skyline-

  3. I need to rein in my shopping, too! I don't know what it is about spring, but I feel like I just want all of the new things! I adore that Loft dress on you!

  4. After three months of mostly really good behaviour, my desire to shop returned with a vengance in April and I felt almost powerless to resist. I had no good excuses, like it being my birthday month - I just felt inspired by new collections and wanted to own all of them myself. Unfortunately, for me, the fact that I actually did buy so many things is directly related to a major spike in my stress level, so I'm trying to figure out how to mitigate that... But after all of my outstanding online orders arrive ;)

  6. I love the Skyline crossbody bag. Ah shopping bans can be hard, but perhaps budget a bit more strictly so it's a partial ban?

  7. I learned to stop and think about the purchase before going crazy. It has helped me cuz these impulse purchases I did were the biggest regrets

  8. I really love the dresses you got, especially the green one! :) I've found having less time for shopping is the easiest way for me to stick to my goals of shopping less, but I definitely still make impulse buys now and then, haha! I can't stop that entirely - both things I bought this month were impulse buys!

Hope that your week is going well! It's been such a big and busy one here!

  10. It is so difficult for me to go on a shopping ban, especially as the seasons shift. I see so many new things that would make great additions to the wardrobe and have the hardest time resisting. I think that shopping in moderation is alright in this instance!
