Shadow Play

Anyone who's ever taken outfit photos with me knows I try to avoid direct sunlight and harsh shadows as much as I possibly can. You will find me running to the shady side of the street, or under a big tree, pillar or any object that provide just enough coverage from the sun.

On this afternoon, however, I was feeling bold, wondering if I could make the shadows work and play up the drama on an otherwise pretty simple outfit. The sun was out, I thought I might as well enjoy it.

  1. Work that sun!! ;) I usually try to hide from it as well, but the past couple times Christian has done photos it's been sunny so he's tried some different things with his camera.
Loving the necklace too, super pretty!

  2. You worked the shadows magically L!
The scallop top is such an unexpected neckline, looks really good.

  3. I also usually go out of my way to avoid the sun, but it is nice to get right into direct sunlight from time-to-time (what a great excuse to pose with a pair of fun sunglasses, right?). And these photos just look awash in sunlight.

  10. I'm definitely one to try and avoid direct sunlight during photoshoots - but sometimes it's fun to play with the glowy lighting. Love how these photos turned out, and your outfit is so cute!

  13. These photos turned out really nicely! I never manage to get good photos in direct sunlight, I really need to learn how to setup my camera better!

Hope that you are having a lovely weekend :) It's really stormy here, but it's making it a bit cooler so it's welcome!

  15. Like you, I have spent almost all of my years as a blogger avoiding harsh light. It has lead me to waking up absurdly early for photoshoots and, admittedly, I've gotten used to it, so I don't mind. But sometimes it's a beautiful day and you like your outfit and you just want to get the shot. It happened to me a couple of times during our trip to Paris this year and, you know what? The photos turned out pretty well, actually. I think these ones did, too. (And I remain obsessed with those mules/regretful that I didn't purchase them myself.)

  17. I'm loving these photos! I've actually grown some appreciation for photos in the sun too recently. I try to take outfit shots both in and out of the sun and edit a few to see which I like more. It's always different as to which one I prefer! I guess it depends on time of the day, how cloudy it is too!

    Nice outfit too!
