Peaks of the Week

When I decided to start doing "Peaks of the Week", it wasn't just so that I could share fun or interesting articles and things to buy, it was to force me to reflect on the week and actually talk about what the good parts were. So far I've pretty much failed to abide by that. That said, the actual peak of my week was when a groundhog ran into my office. I keep the door open when it's nice out, so it's basically always been an invitation for the chipmunks to run in, but this is the first time I've ever seen a groundhog. He was really cute, he disappeared for about five minutes, then came running out covered in cobwebs (I blame the cleaning people, they consistently do a poor job). I managed to snap a photo of him as he peered in.

Other than that, I finished season two of Santa Clarita Diet, and it was so good. I love that they managed to find a way to have Nathan Fillion's character return, and if the concept of Drew Barrymore as a zombie doesn't appeal to you, I urge you to give it a try anyway. The comedy is so good, and the half hour episodes zip by and leave me wanting more.

❖  In case you missed it, a raccoon's accent up a skyscraper went viral on Twitter.

❖ When Anthony Bourdain defended an 88 year old food critic's review of Olive Garden, and then went on to help her publish a book.

❖ Adorable bucket bag in white leather and straw.

❖ Some influencers are overstepping when it comes to what they expect to be gifted.

❖ I've been thinking I want to learn how to do weight training.

❖ I'm not sure if I like that Instagram is more shoppable, or am coming to resent that everyone is just trying to sell me something.

❖ This recipe for Tahini and Halva Brownies has definitely peaked my interest.

❖ Another red and white floral dress - I have a problem.

❖ This might make a ponytail look chic, but it's still a $630 hair tie.

❖ I'd all but forgotten about Chicane, but when Running to the Sea turned up in my Discover Weekly, it turns out that 21 years later, they are still making music, and I still like it.

  1. No animal has ever run into my office and I have to say, now that I know that it's a possibility, I'm deeply disappointed I've never experienced it. Especially because that groundhog is adorable! I loved Santa Clarita Diet, especially the end of season 2, and I definitely wish there were more of it. I binge-watched Wynonna Earp this week which was also very enjoyable although not quite as funny - somehow, Netflix just keeps sucking me in :)

  2. Haha, that's so funny! Hi Mr Groundhog!!!!!
And that's a very interesting article about the influencers. I can't imagine DM-ing a hotel and being like 'Hey, can I stay there for free and post on Instagram?'

  4. That's hilarious about the groundhog - he's so cute too! I've just been floored by all the amazing things and tributes about Anthony Bourdain that I've read. I never really followed his career or knew terribly much about him but he just seems like such a wonderful person.

  8. I think the groundhog is the best but we don't have groundhogs here so I don't know if it's normal to see them running around like that!

The MPR Raccoon saga was awesome to see - made me smile and I was so fascinated. I had no idea raccoons were such good climbers (but again, we don't have them here!)

Hope that you are having a lovely weekend! It will be a quieter one here as we are all a little under the weather unfortunately, winter bugs have hit!

  12. That groundhog story is hilarious! ha! Anyway, yes, Bourdain is an innovator in his field, and you have to love his genuine take on character on whatever subject he talks about. Love his show Parts Unknown.

  13. Aww, I loved that article about Anthony Bourdain. And the one about hotels was interesting too--people have a lot more nerve than I would--I don't even reach out to brands for a free shirt, let alone a free hotel stay, ha! That is so crazy about the groundhog in your office!

  15. Awww that ground hog is SOOOO cute !!!!!! Haha and you had me laughing at that being the peak of the week, it cannot be. That's a fab skirt.
My peak of the week was probably Sunday when I spent the entire day at the second hand and antique market. All day and stupid me tried a pair of vintage Pucci sunglasses and stupid me took a picture with them and then DID not go back to buy them. That was my very own stupid &%$? peak of the week. I'm still pissed : https://www.instagram.com/p/BkJcHiPnPD1/?hl=es
Maybe I should do a "Piss of the week". Maybe I should not curse in comments ;)
