Picnic fare

When it comes to family gatherings I tend to err on the side of being overdressed. An occasion is an occasion, right? However for a backyard graduation party the other weekend I decided last minute to swap out my white eyelet dress for the significantly more laid back combo of denim shorts and striped shirt.

I knew I made the right decision when I sat down on the lawn to play with my nephew and right into the spot of grass where someone had spilt their entire strawberry daiquiri. Even though I was soaking wet and stained pink, at least I wasn't wearing white!

  1. Oh my goodness, you sat in an entire strawberry daiquiri?! Good thing you had changed before you left home, your poor eyelet dress would have been absolutely ruined! Gatherings with my family, although I attend very few of them because I live far from home, are always very casual and I'm usually the only person who is even a little bit dressed up - but that's my personality, so I think it works. But when sugary drinks and little kids are involved, casual is probably the safest bet!
