Chevron by the sea

The first week of July is done, and I'm looking ahead to a quiet weekend. I've taken on a very small sewing project - a pillow case for a body pillow for the bedroom. It's been ages since I've sat down at my machine, even longer since I perused the bolts of fabrics at the store. I felt excitement and nostalgia, and found the perfect print - incidentally a Nate Berkus design - I have such a weakness for his Target line, so naturally that would be the print I was unknowingly drawn to.

The bedroom is the one room of my apartment that still doesn't feel complete. It's got cardboard boxes and clutter, a lamp (Nate Berkus for Target) which sits on the floor unused since there is nowhere for it to go. I've outgrown the closet (not that I ever really fit it), and never got around to finding a headboard for the bed frame, so I'm not sure if this pillow endeavour is going to help the cause or just feel like more clutter, but I'm hoping for the former.

  1. Oh goodness, sewing - I admire your dedication. I never had any interest in learning and when I was forced to try in high school, it was a miserable failure. My mom still tells the story of a pair of mittens I made, one of which was twice as big as the other! Love this dress on you - it's so perfectly summery and it works so well with your panama hat. I finally have one of my own and it's everything I dreamed it would be.

  3. It had been a while since that dress saw the light of day... looks great - as for your pineapple necklace: I love it.
What can I say, I have SO MANY things to get done at home that its overwhelming. Over 1,700 square feet sound and look good at first specially after coming from 970sqfeet however sometimes I miss my smaller place where it was all done, all in place...

  5. What a gorgeous dress! I also adore the pineapple necklace! Good luck with your sewing project! Sewing is one skill I wish I had mastered, but I guess it's never too late to learn.

  16. I like Nate's stuff too. Your dress and that dainty pineapple necklace are both gorgeous. I just bought a chevron dress too - a maxi. I love the cabana nautical feel your outfit has, Lydia. Looking great as usual.

Have a great weekend! Ada. =)
