Colored denim continues

I'm not sure where we stand on the colored denim trend; it seems to have faded considerably, though I don't think it's quite dead yet. I still think this bright red pair is fun to pull out every so often, and I particularly like to pair them with leopard print.

It wasn't difficult to find a pair of bright red jeans to link to either, so lovers of brightly colored bottoms can easily add this shade to your closet. Presently I'm wondering if I'd rather trade these in for a darker shade of red, or if I should only put my money into denim I will never have to worry about going out of style.

  1. Gorgeous! Don't get rid of these. Great fit, looks good and of course, awesome with leopard. They almost look like a quasi pant over here and I'd fully get tons of use out of a colored pant so I say keep them. :)

  2. Do you alter your jeans? If so, any tips? They always seem to be the perfect length. Coming from a fairly short girl, finding pants the correct length always seem to be a struggle.

  3. I love the red denim, it's such a nice change to all the dark denim and black and grey this season!! You look great in this look.

  4. God I love how red and leopard look paired together. Thanks for the reminder of that! I think this shade of red is really great - I'd hang onto them.

  5. Red and denim look so wonderful together. My red jeans are the only colored ones still in my closet. I don't want to give them up. I am looking for an ox-blood or burgundy pair at the moment, however.

  6. I'd say keep wearing the ones you have, but don't go out any buy anymore. Unless they are dark colors...olive, purple, burgundy, haha. Or maybe that's just me ;)
But love them styled with the leopard!

  7. DOn't invest in another pair, these totally work.
My red jeans have faded and I don't think I will be replacing them once I decide they are faded enough.
I really like this, specially the brown jacket - it gives it a really chic look.

  9. I love this combo on You and have been looking for a pair of red jeans myself. Remember that colored denim fades easily when you are on the hunt for other colors.

  10. I was SO about colored denim a couple years ago! I've since toned my collection down a lot, but I have a pair of cobalt blue jeans that I don't think I can part with. As long as it's a color that works with your wardrobe (and with leopard print, duh! ;), I say go for it!

  11. No doubt! They used to be a huge "thing" and now they are not around as much. I always prefer a colored denim to a blue jean, but that's just cause I'm weird like that. I think this is an excellent use of colored denim. Love the red/burgundy/leopard combo!

  15. Those jeans are classic in shape and definitely the color - so keep them. I have the J. Crew dress in that print. I got it off of eBay recently for a 90th birthday party we are going to in January. I have yet to break it out for the blog but it's on my list. I have the perfect boots for it.

  18. I think it's the crazy neons that have gone out of style, but red skinnies will always be a classic. I've been obsessed with red skinnies ever since I saw a photo of Marilyn Monroe in red slacks and a white top. :)

  21. Isn't it strange how trends come and go? I haven't thought about coloured bottoms for well over a year, but now seeing yours, I remember how much I covetted royal blue J Brand jeans and how much time I spent searching for the perfect shade of vibrant red. Although I doubt I'll be reaching for colour pants again anytime soon myself, I still think they look fabulous on you. Plus, red and leopard - how could you possible go wrong there?

  23. I like the colored jeans trend. It's not as in your face as before, but it's still so fun! The red jeans are adorable on you, but I love my burgundy pair, too!

  24. I love the red/leopard mix! I was wondering that myself the other day, because I feel like I don't see as much colored denim out there. I still really like it though, I may have to pull out my bright red cords for winter!

  25. I have been so obsessed with distressed denim lately that I have not given my colored denim any love. I have to agree with you that red jeans never really go out of style. A great closet staple.
