The Lingering Summer

I love golden hour in September. The light just feels a bit different, or perhaps it's just the knowledge that it's slipping away which makes me want to try and take advantage of it as much as I can.

In an attempt to make a sensible fall purchase, I picked up this ribbed sweater tank at Banana Republic. I would have gotten the white, but my size wasn't in stock. It's a very basic top. Exactly the kind of thing I'm convinced my closet should be full of when I'm not busy lusting after bold prints and fringe details. The truth is, I never know what is going to really be a closet workhorse until it is. While I was set on having this round bag three summers ago, I don't think I imagined just how frequently I'd reach for it, or how many outfits it would compliment. Plus I'm continually surprised at just how much I can tetris into it!

  1. These round bags really are something, aren't they? Like you, I bought mine on a whim - it was shortly after we came home to Winnipeg after three months in Europe, and I was feeling like filling my disappointment at being back with all the things. I figured it would be a fun novelty piece for the sum... but lo and behold, for a third summer it's been in rotation again and again, and it's going in my suitcase for Athens, too. The best part really is just how much it can somehow hold, despite its totally impractical shape. Plus, it really does go with everything, although it somehow looks especially lovely with this outfit.

And yea, its funny how sometimes you buy something thinking you'll just wear it a handful of times and then you wear it ALLLL the time

  3. You wouldn't think a bag shaped like that would be so capable of holding so much - but it looks like it's proved a great closet addition. Hopefully the same will hold true for the top (which I really like).

  5. I love that knit - I've been trying to buy more pieces like this, good basics that go with anything and everything. I think I have enough statement pieces in my wardrobe, ha!

I love your little round bag too, so nice for summer! I got one earlier this year and you can fit a surprising amount in it! I expect mine will get even more use now it's warmed up here!

Hope that your week is going well :)

  9. It's so true, sometimes I'm surprised at how certain garments unexpectedly become work horses.
