Looking Forward

Happy Friday! I know it's been a while since I've posted, and while I wasn't planning on taking such a long break from the blog, sometimes it just happens. I've definitely found myself in a bit of a rut lately, but hopefully that will change soon. I also wanted to thank everyone for your sweet words about Chloe, they mean so much to me.

This felt like the right time to try and get back into my regular post schedule, since this past week I found myself with an unexpectedly full blogging social calendar. It's been a lot of fun, and I got a chance to catch up with some bloggers I haven't seen in ages, but I'm still looking forward a quieter week ahead, and hopefully finding myself back into my routine of reading all your blogs, which I've been missing!

I've also done way too much shopping over the last month. I started writing my May budget post and just abandoned it because I was feeling embarrassed about how many things ended up in my closet, the new top and earrings I'm wearing included. Finding moderation with my shopping budget is still an issue for me, no matter how much I tell myself I don't need something, those moments of weakness, of believing my next purchase will somehow make me feel better are hard to quell. If you have any tips on how to shop the impulse shopping, I'm all ears. Also, someone please tell me not to buy this top.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend, see you Monday!

  1. Sometimes we all need that break! Staying in budget can be difficult when it comes to shopping. But I do hope you share what you ended up buying! Love this summer outfit. The striped sleeveless sweater is so cute!

  2. This is such a cute Summer look! I love the bag!
And yea, I've gone through stages with shopping, sometimes it's super easy for me to just say no others I'm just like BUY BUY BUY!!!! But mostly I just try to think 'do I really need this?' 'would I rather save this for a trip or emergency?' 'Is there something more expensive that I'd rather save up for?' Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't, haha. But sometimes it also makes me not buy things and then later I regret not buying them....sooooo

  3. It's so nice to see you back in this space! I have most definitely not figured out how to cure my impulse shopping (I actually just ordered in excess of $300 worth of stuff like an hour ago) so please tell me if you find the secret!

  6. I always feel like when I end a budget post with something like "I don't think I really need anything next month or want anything" I end up buying way too much. June is no exception and isn't even half over! Oh dear!

  7. Such a cute summer outfit - love the nautical vibes with the gold accessories against the navy and white stripes :)

I've noticed I've been buying quite a bit this year! I didn't want to buy anything this month but I couldn't resist a $2 tee, I'd been considering it when it was $9 so I had to get it when it was reduced to $2, haha! But I was hoping not to buy anything - will see how my resolve goes for the rest of the year :) Impulse buying is the hardest thing for me to stop!

Hope that you're having a wonderful weekend :)

  11. It's lovely to see you back, although I identify with struggling to maintain a blog routine - especially lately. I manage all of one social media posts today, mostly thanks to poor planning on my part, but also just because time always seems to be at a premium and somehow, my blog is the first thing I am willing to sacrifice. And yet, somehow, like you, I just keep shopping. While I don't think I've truly gone overboard, I know that as long as I work from home, I will never actually need even a fraction of the clothes I own - but in those moments of making the purchases, they feel essential. When I'm truly content, I don't shop... but somehow, I have yet to figure out how to translate truly happy into my everyday life, so I keep making those purchases. If I ever figure out the secret, I'll let you know - and I hope you'll do the same :)

  12. It's wonderful to see you back Lydia, you've been missed! But I completely understand you needing a bit of a break. I do that more often than I should! But I do think it's important to take care of yourself especially after losing your beloved dog.

Shopping on impulse, or simply wanting new things because you see them on social media or other blogs is something I struggle with as well. I'm still working on it every day! But I do notice that when I don't go on social media as often, my desire for wanting all the new things definitely subsides. I wear things over and over but it's hard not to shop when there's so many beautiful things to buy! The struggle is real ;)

  13. I feel you. On the other hand I think the new top and earrings look lovely.
I've been going through an odd shopping phase, non stop, things that don't even fit. I'm juggling a lot and i think shopping has become a risky outlet.
